“Dune: Part Two” delayed amid strikes

00:00Another one of this year's major theatrical releases has been delayed to 2024 due to the

00:04ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Dune Part 2 will now be released on March 15th, signaling

00:10that studios don't have much faith that the strike will be resolved by the film's original

00:14release date of November 3rd. The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike prevents members from promoting

00:19any projects affiliated with Hollywood's major studios or streamers. This meant that if the

00:23film was released as initially scheduled, it would have had to go without the promotional

00:27boosts of stars like Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet, and Florence Pugh. This follows other films that

00:32have delayed their debuts until next year, including Kraven the Hunter, Ghostbusters

00:36Afterlife, and Challengers. Disney also recently reshuffled the releases of its upcoming Marvel,

00:41Star Wars, and Avatar films. Other big releases such as Wonka, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,

00:46and The Color Purple are holding their release dates in December. For promotions to resume,

00:50the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers must agree to fair contract terms

00:55with SAG-AFTRA.
