00:08The strobing sign has upset local residents and city officials who have issued a notice

00:12violation after it was installed without the necessary permit.

00:16A spokesman for the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection says a building permit

00:20is required to make sure the sign is structurally sound and installed correctly.

00:24It also could pose a potential risk to public safety and historical preservation of the

00:29A city representative said the structure is quote a temporary lighted sign for an event

00:33but a city inspector clarified that any signage without a permit must be removed.
