00:13The hundreds of whales stranded themselves over the course of a few days.

00:17And after none could be refloated, the 477 whales either died naturally or were euthanized.

00:25The remote location of the island and possibility of shark attacks in the nearby waters made

00:30it impossible to refloat the whales.

00:32The marine mammals will be left to naturally decompose on the beach.

00:36Just two weeks ago, another 200 whales died in a separate beaching incident on a nearby

00:41Tasmanian beach.
