“The Blind Side” is allegedly a lie

00:00Former NFL player Michael Orr, the subject of The Blind Side, says in a new lawsuit that he was

00:05never adopted, tricked into a conservatorship, and didn't see any of the film's money.

00:10According to a court filing against Sean and Leigh-Anne Toohey, Orr claims the popular movie

00:14and book about his adoption was based on a lie. The couple reportedly had him sign

00:18conservatorship papers when he turned 18, which he believed made him a member of their family.

00:23Instead, Orr's lawyers claim the documents only gave the couple the rights to make

00:27business deals in his name. Orr also says he was paid nothing for the film,

00:31while the Toohey's negotiated a deal that made them and their two biological children $225,000

00:37each plus 2.5% of the film's proceeds. This is because Orr reportedly signed a

00:42contract that gave 20th Century Fox Studios the rights to his life story with no compensation.

00:48Orr says he has never liked the film as he believed it made people think he was unintelligent

00:52and hurt his football career. Sean Toohey responded to the allegations,

00:56saying Orr got an equal share of the movie's profits,

00:58and that it's upsetting to think they would make money off of any of their children.
