Tesco raise thousands for Pendleside Hospice

00:00It is a fantastic amount, just over £16,000 that we've raised for the hospice.

00:05So basically, since 2016, we've been part of the corporate challenge team.

00:11So every year, for four months in a year, we go all out fundraising for the hospice.

00:17So basically, the hospice, they give us a £50 starter pack, and the idea is to turn

00:23that £50 into as much money as possible.

00:26So we go all out, the bulk of our fundraising this year, as previous years, has been in-store

00:33collections.

00:34We do bucket collections, stand at the front of the store, and people are so passionate.

00:42I say this all the time, the easiest organisation to raise money is Pendleside Hospice, because

00:51everyone is so passionate about it, because it's touched us all in some way or another.

00:58So it's an absolute pleasure, because when you're fundraising, people come to you, they

01:03have a little story to tell.

01:05As they're making a donation, they will tell you about how they're passionate about the

01:11hospice, and it's heart-touching stories that you get to hear.

01:17So yeah, we've had lots of activities going on, in addition to bucket collections.

01:23We've had people doing head-shaves, staying silent for a day, there's lots going on.

01:36We've done a zipline challenge, what a thrilling challenge that was.

01:40It wasn't exactly on my bucket list, but for the hospice, I was not prepared to do anything,

01:46so that was quite an amazing challenge.

01:48So that was a sponsored event, so yeah, that's the sort of things that we have been doing.

01:54The relationship that we have with Tesco has been quite a long-standing relationship, particularly

02:00with the Corporate Challenge.

02:02They've been helping us and supporting us since the challenge started way back in 2016,

02:08so we have built up a tremendous relationship with them, with the Community Champions.

02:14So we're really, really grateful for all the support that they give us, and every year

02:19they just seem to be so creative and so imaginative with their fundraising activities, and that

02:24makes such a difference to us, because everything that they do for us makes a difference at

02:29the hospice.

02:31We are such a focal part of the local community, I think everybody that we speak to has been

02:36touched by Pendleside in some way or other, some connection some way or other, so we're

02:42really, really fortunate that we've got this relationship with Tesco, and they have been

02:45absolutely amazing in their support for us.

02:50So I'm delighted that Muktar is on board with us, it's been brilliant, and we're looking

02:53forward to next year as well.
