00:00U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin III's visit to the country included discussions on enhancing humanitarian cooperation,
00:09particularly in disaster relief.
00:11During his courteous call on President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.,
00:16Secretary Austin announced the U.S. will provide troops and an additional $1 million in humanitarian aid
00:23to support the Philippines' disaster response and help typhoon victims.
00:28The U.S. expressed its condolences to the families whose loved ones lost their lives
00:34during the consecutive weather disturbances.
00:37Meanwhile, the Chief Executive also acknowledged the importance of Enhanced Defense Cooperation, or ADCASIDES,
00:44which helped the immediate disaster response.
00:48To authorize U.S. troops to help Philippine forces provide life-saving aid to the Filipino people.
00:55The U.S. has also secured another million dollars in urgent humanitarian aid
01:00and that will enhance the work of USAID in the World Food Program.
01:06The ADCASIDES become the staging area because right after the storm,
01:11many areas can only be reached by helicopter.
01:18And many roads close because of landslides.
01:21And therefore, even the main capital provinces can only be reached by aircraft.
01:30And so we have used to a great extent the ADCASIDES.
