00:00And that's a myth actually, there are some who are like that.
00:07See how I transformed this bedside I got for free off Marketplace.
00:11There's a lot of bedsides like this that people have got up for free and they still don't sell,
00:15so I wanted to try and find a way that I could make profit from it.
00:18So I picked up this one that was only down the road from me and I just started prepping it.
00:23I started by taking off the handles and these were a bit of a nightmare so I just had to get
00:27them out with some pliers. I am going to reuse these handles so I didn't fill in the holes
00:32and then I'm straight on to sanding. Because it was only wax pine it sanded up really easily
00:37and then I was straight on to cleaning. The last bit of the prep work is just the masking
00:41tape on the edge of the drawers and then I'm using this gorgeous dusky pink from French
00:46Cheek and I'm just painting the whole of the bedside in this colour. For a light colour this
00:52was really good coverage and it only needed two coats and also here I'm just using my favourite
00:57brushes and they're by Harris and they just stopped me from getting any brush marks in my
01:02paintwork. As soon as that first coat was done I'm just straight on to the second and look how
01:07good it's looking already. Now although it looks cute already I am going to add more detail.
01:12This is a bone inlay style stencil and I'm just using the colour Whistle by French Cheek as well
01:18and it's a whitey grey to create this design. You can use a stencil brush for this but I am
01:23actually just using a smaller brush and it is working just as well and with this I'm just
01:28actually picking a stencil that fits in what place. I haven't actually designed this before
01:32I'm doing it. Now I'm just sorting out the handles I'm just painting them the same colour as the pink
01:38and then as soon as they're dry I'm just putting them straight back on again. This is for sale on
01:43my website for £80 and delivery for a single bedside like this is only £20 so for £100 you
01:50can get one of my hand-painted bedsides and look how cute it's turned out. Follow us for more!
01:56See how I transformed this chest of drawers I got for free off Marketplace into £150.
02:01I just started by scuff sanding. This piece is pine so it's really easy to sand and then I'm
02:06straight on to masking taping. I'm just giving this piece a complete clean just to get rid of
02:11all the dust and dirt, no one wants that in their painted furniture. I'm using French
02:15Cheeks Steaming Green and it's a really popular colour for me. This paint has really good coverage
02:20and it only takes two coats. Also I didn't have a lot of paint left but because it is such good
02:26coverage I managed to still get this whole chest of drawers out of a quarter of a tin. I love
02:31upcycling this pine furniture because it is just so easy and it sands really well. It was drying
02:37so quickly because of how hot it was today so I was straight on to the second coat and then this
02:42top was quite marked so I did try and sand it and it did come up nicely but there was still a couple
02:47of marks I wasn't really happy with and for this piece I decided to sand the sides as well. I had
02:53to hand sand these side bits just because I couldn't get all of it with the sander. Because
02:58I wasn't happy with the marks I did decide to do a white wash. This I think works best with pine
03:03furniture and I'm just using French Cheeks Whistle which is like a whitey grey. I have to say
03:09I am not great at white washing but it did turn out alright. So once I was happy with the finish
03:14it was just on to putting handles on and I'm using these bronzed cup handles and then taking off the
03:20masking tape and there we go it's all done. I do these sort of projects every day so if you like
