We dissect Doncaster Rovers' 1-1 draw with Salford.

00:00Good evening from the Ecopower after Doncaster Rovers' 1-0 draw with Salford.
00:05A little bit like Deja Vu, isn't it, after 7 days ago going to Notts County.
00:10Another game where Rovers go behind despite, you know, really bossing the game.
00:16Those first 20 minutes today, they just needed to turn the screw on Salford.
00:21Couldn't do it. Going at half-time 0-0 and you're kind of thinking if they can come out
00:27and, you know, carry on in the same vein of form that they'll find that opener.
00:32But Jordan Gibson hits a post and then two minutes later it's Salford who are celebrating the lead.
00:38Three individual errors, really, which Grant McCann, who we've spoke to just now, referenced.
00:43The throw-in, which they don't deal with. Then it goes to Kiase. He's not closed down.
00:48Then his shot from long distance, which McCann didn't really pick out Ted Sharmell,
00:53but it didn't really give him much praise either. Basically saying he should have done better with it.
00:57It's hard to say because I've not seen a replay.
01:00But, yeah, I mean, you just felt that first 20 minutes, as I said, they were well on top.
01:04Gibson down one flank, Molineux down the other.
01:08But they didn't turn the screw and it's been such a – it's becoming a theme, isn't it?
01:12Especially at home now. It's one winning six. I mean, they did rally, changed formation,
01:16kind of went gung-ho and chucked on the subs and went through at the back
01:20and it paid off. Two of the subs, Sabara and Sharpe linking up.
01:24You could probably make a case for Sharpe scoring again just afterwards.
01:28I know it glanced off a post. But that was the only shot on target.
01:32Billy Sharpe's goal. And I think that says a lot.
01:3477 minutes it took him to hit the target. Solitary attempt on goal.
01:39You can talk about possession and chances forged and XG and all this,
01:43but at the end of the day, you have to test the goalkeeper and they didn't do it enough.
01:47I think their point's probably about right today.
01:51You look at that form over the course of a season.
01:53Grant said afterwards that they've only scored 22 in 16 and quite clearly
01:59that's not good enough if you want to be in those automatic spots.
02:02Obviously, they are in the automatic spots at the minute,
02:05but by virtue of it being really, really tight up there.
02:10So yeah, they are third. It's not panic stations yet at all,
02:13but I think they just need to go up their gears 10% more probably.
02:18It's just not clicking at that end of the pitch.
02:22They're doing everything but score right now.
02:24But the good thing I guess is that they've got a full week to work on it again in training.
02:28Carlisle away next Saturday, another big one.
02:31And then it gets into December and that's when the games come thick and fast.
02:35So yeah, not panic stations yet, but plenty to improve on
02:39and I'm sure Grant McCann knows that.
