00:00
I, oh my, the Detroit Lions just keep getting the job done.
00:05
7-1, unbeaten on the road.
00:08
They won outside.
00:10
No dome, no problem.
00:12
Oh, their offense actually didn't look that good, but that's okay.
00:16
That's not really the point with the Lions.
00:17
It's all about the fact that they're in a 7-1 and that Donnie has some
00:21
NFC futures on him, so he might as well be a Lions fan.
00:24
So, Donnie, I'll allow you to start.
00:26
They go to play the Houston Texans, who are unbeaten at home so far this season.
00:31
They do so as 3.5-point favorites.
00:34
What do you expect?
00:35
Easy.
00:36
Easy, Joe.
00:37
Easy, Joe.
00:38
Easy.
00:39
Press the button there.
00:40
Minus 3.5 should be 6.5.
00:41
Alt it up, please, Joe.
00:42
It says 9.5 in this game.
00:43
Why?
00:44
Because the Detroit Lions are coming for souls today.
00:45
People, absolutely.
00:46
But also, I love C.J. Stroup.
00:48
Told you at the beginning of the season.
00:49
Thought this team was going to win the division.
00:50
I still think that's going to be the same.
00:52
However, things do change.
00:53
Nico Collins is going to come back today.
00:55
Hamstring injury?
00:56
Probably not.
00:57
Take a look at Tank Dell.
00:58
Oh, no, what's my back hurting today?
00:59
Probably not in there.
01:00
Will Anderson, hey, could use him to rush the pass rusher, rush the quarterback.
01:03
He's not there either.
01:04
Now, again, sometimes I'm facetious by saying it's easy, but there's no way, shape, or form.
01:08
Look at me right here, that we're taking the Houston Texans, Detroit all the way by a touchdown.
01:13
I like Houston in this matchup.
01:15
I think it's a bounce-back spot.
01:16
This is where we disagree.
01:17
Now, the numbers suggest Detroit's playing and should win this game, right?
01:22
They've won six straight.
01:23
The numbers are dominant.
01:24
They've won the sixth by an average margin, a victory cap of 18 points per game.
01:28
To your point, they are 7-1 on the year, undefeated on the road, but on the flip side, you have Houston.
01:34
That's 4-0 at home.
01:35
They haven't covered numbers.
01:36
They've looked a little bit inconsistent, but I think it's a bounce-back spot for C.J. Stroud in that offense.
01:42
Look for Dalton Schultz to get involved.
01:44
Look for Joe Mixon as well, not just in terms of the ground, but the receiving game as well.
01:49
And I think they pull off the upset.
01:51
Not going to be easy, but I believe Yamiko Ryans and C.J. Stroud, in this particular spot,
01:57
with back-to-back role games, prime time, give me the Texans outright.
02:01
I think it's a great spot to bet the Texans, and that's exactly what I'm going to do at 3-1 at home.
02:06
At the end of the day, I know, first of all, I know this will never apply to you,
02:09
because a team has to catch double digits for you to think that they could cover in a loss.
02:15
Correct.
02:16
I've never believed that, and I very much think Detroit could win this game by 3, quite frankly.
02:21
The Texans are unbeaten so far at home.
02:23
Now, they've not been dominant at home.
02:25
They don't win these home games by—I think their biggest home win this season was by 6,
02:30
laying 6 to the Chicago Bears on that Sunday night.
02:34
But I do think getting Nico Collins back, because I think he's going to play Donnie off of the IR stint,
02:39
is certainly a boost.
02:41
Detroit is also kind of banged up coming into the game.
02:45
A lot of defensive guys on this injury report, and they add Taylor Decker to the mix,
02:50
where if all of a sudden that offensive line leaks a little bit,
02:52
it could make up for the fact that Houston is going to be without Will Anderson in this game,
02:57
which is certainly a blow.
02:59
It's also just for me a bet on C.J. Stroud, who I think has proven to be one of your,
03:05
let's call it 10 best quarterbacks in football, and is in line to have himself a really good game,
03:11
because Stroud has now battled with some inconsistency the last few weeks.
03:15
Some of it's been situational, but he's only thrown for over 200 yards once within his last four games.
03:21
And again, at home, I expect better from C.J., his best target in Nico Collins in the offense here.
03:28
I think the Texans can do certainly enough to stay within a field goal at home in a game against the Lions.
03:36
Yeah, we'll see also, because Nico Collins, I think, is a game-time decision.
03:39
So if you're taking a look at the Houston offense, which, again, coming into the season, I absolutely love.
03:42
No Stephon Diggs, no Tank Dell, possibly no Nico Collins could be a formality.
03:46
And also, if you are a game-time decision, what does that actually mean for your game play
03:49
and your snap count at that point?
03:51
Nico Collins is fantastic, a top-five wide receiver, which when he does get back healthy,
03:55
that Texans offense is going to move.
03:57
And also keep in mind, Jamison Williams back here for the Detroit Lions.
04:00
Now you have that deep play threat on one side, Aminarah St. Brown on the other,
04:03
tight ends, best offensive line in football, two dominant running backs,
04:06
which, again, legitimate chances for them to score touchdowns.
04:09
I just think Detroit is too much on offense tonight for the Houston Texans.
04:13
That's why I'm picking them.
04:14
Yeah, I like the over, too, though.
04:15
If I'm back in Houston, I'm also backing the over.
04:18
And to Donny's point, Jordan Love did throw in the second half of that matchup for 273.
04:23
That was a wet track.
04:24
We saw Jayden Reed over 110 yards in that matchup.
04:28
So that could do well for Nico Collins, especially in this matchup in terms of the cornerbacks that he'll face.
04:35
I think C.J. Stroud's going to chuck it.
04:37
I think he throws it between 35 and 40 times in this matchup, maybe 45.
04:43
I don't think Mixon will be as dominant on the ground against that front seven.
04:47
They throw it more spread amount, and then you can run it in the second half.
04:50
Real quick point on that, too.
04:51
You know, sometimes I can get down on the underdog plays for me.
04:53
If Mixon does not hit his number on the ground,
04:56
and if Mixon does not score a touchdown not winning that game,
04:58
I would be betting Joe Mixon as opposed to betting Houston for me.
05:01
All right, we'll see if it plays out that way.
05:03
I think Stroud has to step up in this spot.
05:05
We'll see if he's able to do that.
