00:12About who really should be the mv offensive mvp of the nfl should it be lamar jackson or derrick henry

00:21I absolutely love it because it came up again last night during a broadcast

00:25I was I was working my way through

00:27Some mid-season stuff this morning before the show and I saw it again there

00:31And and we did it yesterday and I realized I picked lamar you picked derrick henry and kang picked jared golf

00:37I picked lamar diving backwards. I picked derrick henry. You picked lamar. Sorry. Yeah, kang picked jared golf

00:43And I want more debates about lamar and derrick henry more and more and more

00:50Please keep debating over those two because there's one thing we've discovered about our quarterback

00:59One of my favorite moments in retrospect in learning about jared golf

01:04You remember all the calls we'd get about how he can't throw the deep ball, right?

01:09So I always like to say to interview subjects

01:14Would you prefer that I haven't said this to golf I never said it to golf but it's always been my approach

01:19can I ask you the questions that listeners ask us because

01:23Here's here's the I i'm answering these questions, but I really don't know and you obviously know

01:27So if I ask you what listeners ask us

01:31Then you get a hit for it. Then you can inform me too and all that and

01:35Usually when I say can I ask you all the questions listeners ask us people say no and I go, okay, but then

01:43you know, this is when we have a sit-down interview or something like that and I kind of before we get started say

01:47I might ask you a bunch of questions listener ask us

01:50If they go, um, what do you mean?

01:52I go well because they'll ask this and that I don't know how to you know

01:54I don't know i'm not in the i'm not in the battle you are

01:57And they'll say and i'll say so it's either me answering for you

02:01Or you can answer and you obviously you're in the battle and they go. Oh then ask away because they don't want me answering for

02:06them it's a way of

02:08Licensing some of the more difficult questions and then they are they appreciate it and you can get an actual answer you hope yes

02:15So when we ask golf about not being able to complete the deep ball

02:20He didn't like it. He wasn't happy

02:23And he was like the numbers speak for themselves

02:26Then do you remember?

02:28Thursday night football when ryan fitzpatrick called him a poor man's matt ryan. Yeah, and he went out and won the game

02:33I don't remember what it was and they had him on the set after the game

02:37And he sat down there was a start the season against kansas city. Was that what it was?

02:40Whatever game it was it might have been he sat down on the set turned to ryan fitzpatrick and said hey

02:46I'm, not a poor man's anybody

02:48Whoa

02:49Edgy, jared goff said it with a with a smile on his face and got a laugh out of it

02:53But clearly also with intent to like check him on on the on the comment

02:58And the funny thing is like no offense to matt ryan

03:03Quarterback it might be might be a hall of fame quarterback, but um

03:08nonetheless

03:10it's perceived as a shot and

03:12I I love what jared goff's done as a detroit lion. I mean

03:17The growth and the fur you saw it in the first year

03:20There were growing pains getting used to this offense and being

03:23Getting used to having a team on his shoulders again because it was taken away from in los angeles

03:28And it's such a young team to work with here

03:31Not a whole lot to work with at the time

03:33and then

03:34Things clicked halfway through that season in the last seven games of the year. He was awfully good

03:39the following year

03:41He was good from the get-go

03:44And the team got really good down the stretch, you know, he was great and then the team got great

03:49Not great enough to make the playoffs but enough to let put everybody on notice and then last year from moment one

03:55You knew this was a team to be reckoned with and he was fantastic

03:59This year started off a little slow and now he's on a record-setting pace with what he has done over the last

04:06You know six games of the season. It's it's been incredible and and he has answered the bell

04:10He's answered the critics you can't throw he can't throw downfield. Oh, really?

04:15have you not seen these perfect passes downfield to aman ra or or to

04:20Uh to tim patrick or to jamo earlier in the year

04:24He's been throwing the ball downfield just fine. He knows the offense

04:28I don't care that he doesn't sit back there and chuck it like dan fouts used to in the 80s

04:33When he's just heaving it up in the air downfield. I love that

04:36But I mean that's the thing dan fouts every pass was that deep dan fouts was a quarterback

04:41He was the first guy to throw consistently for 4 000 yards in the season

04:45Uh, but jared goff is of the mindset. I'll take my shots when I need to take my shots

04:51Right now. I don't need to throw 50 yards downfield

04:54I got this guy cutting across the field on a 10 yard route. That's going to turn into 50 yards

05:00That's how we play football. I know when I need to

05:03Yeah, here's a little something for you

05:05And then he throws it for for 40 yards downfield and they get a touchdown out of it. He's just fine
