00:00Welcome the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris.
00:30Good afternoon, good afternoon.
00:58Good afternoon, everyone.
01:09Good afternoon.
01:21Thank you all.
01:25So let me say, and I love you back, and I love you back.
01:34So let me say, my heart is full today.
01:38My heart is full today, full of gratitude for the trust you have placed in me,
01:46full of love for our country, and full of resolve.
01:53The outcome of this election is not what we wanted, not what we fought for,
02:00not what we voted for, but hear me when I say, hear me when I say,
02:08the light of America's promise will always burn bright.
02:19As long as we never give up, and as long as we keep fighting.
02:33To my beloved Doug and our family, I love you so very much.
02:41To President Biden and Dr. Biden, thank you for your faith and support.
02:48To Governor Walz and the Walz family, I know your service to our nation will continue.
02:58And to my extraordinary team, to the volunteers who gave so much of themselves,
03:08to the poll workers and the local election officials, I thank you, I thank you all.
03:17Look, I am so proud of the race we ran, and the way we ran it, and the way we ran it.
03:26Over the 107 days of this campaign, we have been intentional about building community
03:35and building coalitions, bringing people together from every walk of life and background,
03:43united by love of country with enthusiasm and joy in our fight for America's future.
03:56And we did it with the knowledge that we all have so much more in common than what separates us.
04:05Now I know folks are feeling and experiencing a range of emotions right now.
04:12I get it.
04:15But we must accept the results of this election.
04:19Earlier today, I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory.
04:25I also told him that we will help him and his team with their transition,
04:32and that we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power.
04:37A fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results.
04:50That principle, as much as any other, distinguishes democracy from monarchy or tyranny.
04:59And anyone who seeks the public trust must honor it.
05:05At the same time, in our nation, we owe loyalty not to a president or a party,
05:15but to the Constitution of the United States.
05:23And loyalty to our conscience and to our God.
05:28My allegiance to all three is why I am here to say,
05:34while I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign.
05:43The fight, the fight for freedom, for opportunity, for fairness, and the dignity of all people.
05:59A fight for the ideals at the heart of our nation.
06:04The ideals that reflect America at our best.
06:10That is a fight I will never give up.
06:18I will never give up the fight for a future where Americans can pursue their dreams, ambitions, and aspirations.
06:28Where the women of America have the freedom to make decisions about their own body
06:34and not have their government telling them what to do.
06:39We will never give up the fight to protect our schools and our streets from gun violence.
06:50And America, we will never give up the fight for our democracy, for the rule of law, for equal justice,
07:00and for the sacred idea that every one of us, no matter who we are or where we start out,
07:09has certain fundamental rights and freedoms that must be respected and upheld.
07:16And we will continue to wage this fight in the voting booth, in the courts, and in the public square.
07:30And we will also wage it in quieter ways.
07:35In how we live our lives.
07:38By treating one another with kindness and respect.
07:43By looking in the face of a stranger and seeing a neighbor.
07:49By always using our strength to lift people up.
07:56To fight for the dignity that all people deserve.
08:02The fight for our freedom will take hard work, but like I always say, we like hard work.
08:11Hard work is good work.
08:14Hard work can be joyful work.
08:17And the fight for our country is always worth it.
08:22It is always worth it.
08:31To the young people who are watching, it is...
08:37I love you.
08:42To the young people who are watching, it is okay to feel sad and disappointed.
08:48But please know it's going to be okay.
08:51On the campaign, I would often say, when we fight, we win.
08:56But here's the thing, here's the thing.
08:59Sometimes the fight takes a while.
09:02That doesn't mean we won't win.
09:05That doesn't mean we won't win.
09:08The important thing is don't ever give up.
09:12Don't ever give up.
09:14Don't ever stop trying to make the world a better place.
09:19You have power.
09:21You have power.
09:23And don't you ever listen when anyone tells you something is impossible because it has never been done before.
09:36You have the capacity to do extraordinary good in the world.
09:44And so to everyone who is watching, do not despair.
09:49This is not a time to throw up our hands.
09:52This is a time to roll up our sleeves.
09:55This is a time to organize, to mobilize, and to stay engaged for the sake of freedom and justice and the future that we all know we can build together.
10:10Look, many of you know I started out as a prosecutor, and throughout my career, I saw people at some of the worst times in their lives.
10:19People who had suffered great harm and great pain, and yet found within themselves the strength and the courage and the resolve to take the stand to take a stand.
10:37To fight for justice.
10:40To fight for freedom.
10:42To take a stand.
10:45To fight for justice.
10:48To fight for themselves.
10:51To fight for others.
10:54So let their courage be our inspiration.
10:59Let their determination be our charge.
11:05And I'll close with this.
11:07There's an adage and historian once called a law of history.
11:14True of every society across the ages.
11:19The adage is only when it is dark enough can you see the stars.
11:28I know many people feel like we are entering a dark time.
11:34But for the benefit of us all, I hope that is not the case.
11:39But here's the thing.
11:40America, if it is, let us fill the sky with the light of a brilliant, brilliant billion of stars.
11:53The light, the light of optimism, of faith, of truth, and service.
12:12And may that work guide us, even in the face of setbacks, toward the extraordinary promise of the United States of America.
12:32I thank you all.
12:33May God bless you.
12:35And may God bless the United States of America.
12:39Thank you all.
