One killed and others 'seriously injured' after lorry overturns in M6 crash near Garstang

One person has died after a lorry smashed through the central reservation on the M6 near Garstang.

00:00Lancashire Police have confirmed one person sadly died after a crash on the M6 near Garstang.

00:06The collision occurred between junctions 32 and 33 at around 11.20am on October 6th.

00:12Footage from the scene shows the lorry overturned after crashing through the central reservation.

00:30Officers confirmed several other people were seriously injured in the collision.

00:50The motorway was subsequently closed in both directions while emergency services worked at the scene.

00:56The crash came as thousands of football fans from Sunderland travelled along the M6 to reach Preston,

01:01where the two teams were due to kick off at 8pm.

01:04Long delays were also building on the M6 northbound and southbound following the collision,

01:08as well as on the A6 from Fullwood to Galgate as motorists attempted to avoid the motorway.
