US election 2024: voters in Washington DC hit the polls

Washington DC residents turn up to the polling booths as the USA decides between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump for its next president.

00:00We're out very early this morning at the Martin Luther King Memorial Library.

00:05This is a polling centre. It opened at 7am and it has been very busy.

00:11How is the feeling in Washington at the moment?

00:14It's a little tense. I think you never know what could happen with elections, but

00:18I think there hasn't been any credible threats to my knowledge,

00:22so that could be a little bit of fear-mongering from someone.

00:25What do you think America will look like if Trump does become president?

00:30I don't even want to know. I don't want to know. I think it might be bad,

00:36especially on both sides, so I just hope that everything turns out good.

00:41What do you think the result is going to be?

00:44I am being optimistic. You never know, but I am hoping for a Kamala win.
