00:00I'm Danny Drejo, and I've filmed in a lot of places.
00:03♪♪
00:07All right, let's go.
00:08This is a Catholic cathedral in Austin, Texas.
00:12This one is from Machete.
00:15Here's where Cheech Marin gets tortured,
00:18and I come in with Jessica Alba,
00:21and it's so funny.
00:24My favorite line is when people say,
00:27God, I thought you were taller.
00:29Now, while I was tall enough to kiss Jessica Alba,
00:31I was...
00:33Hey, shut up real quick.
00:35So, anyway, this movie, I really enjoyed this movie.
00:38Machete Don't Text came out then.
00:41You could have at least texted me.
00:44Machete Don't Text.
00:46That saying came from me and Robert Rodriguez.
00:50When we were at the San Diego Comic-Con,
00:52I jacked him up.
00:53Hey, I keep calling you, man.
00:55Answer your damn phone.
00:56He says, every time you call me, Danny,
00:58I'm in a meeting or I'm discussing something, text me.
01:02And I just said, Machete Don't Text.
01:04So he put that in the movie, so.
01:07All right, okay, and here's the next one.
01:08I see a boat on a river.
01:10This here is from Anaconda.
01:12This is my boat,
01:14and my character gets attacked by a giant anaconda.
01:18You see the floorboards going up,
01:21and there's kind of an iconic scene
01:23where the nails that are in the floor,
01:26they come jumping up,
01:27and you see me kind of great acting that I do.
01:30Ah.
01:31Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
01:33Still waiting for the Oscar on that one.
01:35This was filmed in Brazil on the Amazon River.
01:38I had a fourth grade teacher named Mrs. Finley
01:42who was crazy about the Amazon River.
01:46Now, I'm sitting in East Los Angeles,
01:48and this crazy lady,
01:50she's talking about the Amazon, who cares?
01:53You know what I mean?
01:54Hey, lady, we got a river, the L.A. River.
01:57And so it was just like crazy to me.
02:0050 years later, I'm on the damn Amazon River,
02:04and Ice Cube and J-Lo and Erik Stoltz and John Wayne,
02:09they're all asking questions.
02:11So I was answering them.
02:13He said, when did you learn all that?
02:15I thought you were a gangster.
02:17Gangsters don't know nothing.
02:19And you can't tell Ice Cube.
02:20I learned it in the fourth grade.
02:22So I said, when I was in the joint,
02:23and I read a lot.
02:25And I swear to God,
02:27Mrs. Finley used to always talk about
02:30the stars on the Amazon River.
02:33The stars are overwhelming.
02:36And I'd never been, she had never been there.
02:39So my scene was shot twilight.
02:42So I'm sitting at the front of the ship
02:44and I have nobody with me
02:46but the captain and the deckhands.
02:49I'm looking, I look up, I see all these doors,
02:51and I screamed it.
02:52Hey, Mrs. Finley, the stars are overwhelming.
02:57All the crew came running out thinking I was nuts.
03:00I said, the stars.
03:03There it is, all right.
03:04What I see in this picture is a little plane.
03:08This is actually from Spy Kids.
03:11This is the plane that the two kids,
03:15Daryl and Alexa, them two,
03:18I showed them this plane.
03:20I go to sleep and they steal it from me
03:23and go off to where the parents are being held.
03:27And what's that Spanish guy's name?
03:29He's not real.
03:30Oh, Antonio Banderas.
03:32He's like their dad and I'm his brother.
03:35It's funny because Alexa and Daryl
03:38cost everybody a lot of money
03:40because this is Sharp Kids.
03:42They had a cuss jar.
03:45And every time somebody cussed,
03:47you had to put a dollar in the thing,
03:50but you didn't want to be bugged.
03:51So everybody just put a 10 or a 20.
03:54Just leave me alone.
03:55Them kids were making $250, $300 every day.
04:02Sharp Kids, it's all right.
04:03Next stop.
04:04I see a robbery taking place.
04:07Big green truck was what we knocked over
04:10the armored car with.
04:12Yeah, that's the movie Heat.
04:13I was one of the armed robbers in the De Niro gang.
04:16This was shot in Los Angeles, downtown LA.
04:19I can't remember the exact location,
04:21but it was in between the two freeways.
04:23Michael Mann was the director
04:25and he accidentally called me Gilbert Trejo
04:28because he knew my uncle in Folsom.
04:31Michael Mann did a movie called The Jericho Mile
04:34in Folsom with my uncle
04:36and they were actually became friends.
04:38And so when he called me Gilbert,
04:40I said, I'm Danny.
04:41And we started talking and Gilbert had passed away.
04:43So finally he just came and said,
04:45can I call you Gilbert?
04:46Because every time I look at you,
04:47I think of Gilbert, yeah.
04:48So in that movie, it's Danny Trejo playing Gilbert Trejo.
04:52So that was kind of a homage to my uncle.
04:56All right, next one.
04:57Okay, this picture is,
04:59you're going into a bar called the Tarasco.
05:03This picture is,
05:06I know this.
05:07Okay, this is actually from Desperado.
05:10This was filmed in Acuna, Mexico.
05:13Funny story about that.
05:15I didn't say a word in this movie
05:17and I kept telling Robert,
05:18hey Robert, come on, give me a line.
05:21And he goes, no, no, no, no.
05:23Kept arguing with him.
05:24So after the movie aired
05:25and all the big wigs were screened,
05:29they asked me, you know, Q&A,
05:31Danny, you didn't say a word,
05:33yet that character was so powerful.
05:35Was that an actor's decision?
05:38Absolutely.
05:39I think Robert gave me the finger.
05:42This was Antonio's,
05:44one of Antonio Banderas' first movies.
05:47So nobody really knew him.
05:49And I'm walking around in a vest with no shirt.
05:51So everybody's asking me for autographs and pictures.
05:54Robert says, hey,
05:55they think you're the star of the movie.
05:57And I says, you mean I'm not?
05:58I thought I was too.
06:01All right, what I see in this picture is,
06:05whoa, I think this is also Machete.
06:09No.
06:11Uh.
06:14Hey, we stumped the stars.
06:15I have no idea what this picture.
06:18This is Once Upon a Time in Mexico.
06:21Once Upon a Time in Mexico.
06:22That was a lot of fun.
06:24Oh, this was the big fight in the courtyard
06:25where we were shooting and killing everybody, yeah.
06:28And Antonio blasts me
06:30and we hear all these watermelons
06:32and I'm searching myself,
06:34make sure I didn't get hit.
06:36We actually filmed it
06:37where the Mexican Revolution started,
06:40which was San Miguel Allende.
06:43El grito, the yell,
06:45that was there, you know, in Viva Mexico.
06:48One of the things about this movie
06:52was the way that when Selma would walk somewhere,
06:55it's funny to watch like a sea of heads,
06:58like just turning, everybody, it could help.
07:02I see a ocean and a cave.
07:06And this is from Six Days, Seven Nights,
07:10with Harrison Ford and Ann Heche.
07:13Kind of got about five weeks in Hawaii.
07:16It was a tough shoot
07:17because we're doing a lot of running,
07:19attacking, a lot of swimming,
07:20and Harrison Ford is cool.
07:22You know, he's one of them guys
07:23that just stands there and looks cool.
07:26We had a lot of fun.
07:26Everybody just got along really, really well.
07:30Wow.
07:31This is me in Gone with the Wind.
07:33I thought it looked like,
07:35you know that last scene where,
07:37I'll return to Terra.
07:39I see a tree
07:41with a beautiful kind of bronze sunset,
07:46a cemetery.
07:47I have no idea.
07:49This is from Seven Cemeteries.
07:51Ha!
07:52Well, I haven't, I didn't,
07:55I haven't seen it yet.
07:57Right after the bruja, the witch,
08:00has revived me,
08:01and I'm going around to different cemeteries
08:04and reviving my old gang.
08:06There's seven of them,
08:08so everything about it,
08:09it's just a fun, fun movie.
08:12We used this house,
08:13old abandoned house,
08:15that I swear to God,
08:16had these beautiful spiders,
08:18but they were that big.
08:20You know what I mean?
08:21And when you got near their nest,
08:23they would start like moving.
08:26This was filmed outside of Oklahoma City.
08:29In fact, I went into one of the casinos there,
08:32and they want me to put Trejo's tacos there.
08:37So, I might be going back there to do that.
08:40Hey, this is Danny Trejo.
08:42I did pretty good.
08:43The only reason I didn't get Seven Cemeteries,
08:46because I just did it.
