Rail prices are set to increase in England

The Government has announced that regulated train fares in England are to increase by 4.6% next year. It was also revealed that the price of most railcards will rise by £5. The changes are set to come into force from the 2nd of March 2025.

00:30But on the other hand, Organisation Campaign for Better Transport said that raising rail fares above inflation

00:36was a quote, kick in the teeth for those who rely on public transport.

00:40The organisation also added that public transport should be the affordable choice in order to tackle air pollution and congestion.

00:48Furthermore, the Chief Executive of Organisation Rail Partners said that the focus must be on growing passenger numbers,

00:55not making current passengers pay more.
