Berlin says relations with Tehran are at 'a low point' after the German-Iranian prisoner was executed in Iran on terror charges

00:00Germany has ordered the closure of all three Iranian consulates in the country.

00:05Authorities in Berlin said it was in response to the execution of Iranian-German prisoner Jamshid Shammad who was kidnapped in Dubai in 2020.

00:15His execution followed a trial last year that Germany and international rights groups dismissed as a sham.

00:22We have repeatedly made it clear to Tehran that the execution of a German citizen will have serious consequences.

00:33Therefore, I have decided to close the three Iranian consulates in Frankfurt am Main, Munich and Hamburg.

00:43According to the Iranian judiciary, Shammad was put to death in Iran on Monday on terrorism charges.

00:49Iran accused him of planning a 2008 attack on a mosque that killed 14 people, including five women and a child.

00:58Tehran claims over 200 others were injured in the attack.
