During the amnesty period, New Jersey will waive all penalties and half the interest for individuals and businesses that owe taxes on returns due after January 1, 2002 and before February 1, 2009. After that, an additional 5% penalty will be imposed in addition to all other penalties, interests and various costs. Administrators suggest this is an opportunity to catch up and start fresh.
