Comic Con fever comes to the North East

We pop along to Comic Con North East to get a flavour of the event and to speak to some of the stars of the show.

00:00There's a real sense of community, I feel, within the convention world.

00:04So I love to see people from all different ages, different walks of life,

00:09coming and finding a collective joy in meeting people

00:13from all of their favorite movies and TV shows.

00:16What I recognize and really appreciate are the fans that come,

00:21because they make the event.

00:23They truly do, the way that they enjoy themselves.

00:26And it's really a place where people can just be themselves

00:30and be celebrated for whatever their interests are.

00:33And you don't see that typically, you know, just out on the streets.

00:38So we have lots of cosplay attendees who come,

00:42and they have that sense of community where they feel safe,

00:46where they feel comfortable.

00:48Everybody is so kind to one another, which it's just wonderful to see.

00:53I'm glad I can share something in common with so many different people,

00:57right off the bat.

00:59But what's cool is I see them all being really supportive to each other, too.

01:03People that never had anything to do with the making of the game,

01:06and they're all friends, and they all do their cosplays and support each other.

01:10It's really, really cool.

01:12So it's great for our traders.

01:14We have traders from all over the UK, but we have lots of local traders,

01:17so we get local businesses involved.

01:20It brings so much revenue to the area as well,

01:23which is great for everybody involved.

01:25It's very important to people to feel allegiance to the shows that they love

01:29and that they, you know, they watch.

01:32And you've got to remember that they're the audience

01:35and that there wouldn't be anything if they didn't watch.

01:40And it's great for people to be able to come out and show their enthusiasm

01:45and be able to connect with the people that they watch on the screen.

01:49So I think it's quite important for actors to do that,

01:52and I'm very happy to do it.

01:54Just seeing so many people happy and, you know, enjoying themselves,

01:58I think that's probably what I like the most about it.
