00:55The ruling Georgian Dream party's leaders and supporters began celebrations in Tbilisi

01:02However, their victory could be premature, as not all paper ballots and votes cast by

01:08Georgians abroad have been counted.

01:12If Georgian Dream wins a parliamentary majority, it will stoke fears about the country's bid

01:16for EU membership, which was put on hold earlier this year by Brussels after the ruling

01:21party passed laws cracking down on freedom of speech.

01:26Georgia's opposition disputed results of the vote, saying they were falsified.

01:32If this is true, it remains to be seen, but results could decide whether the country pivots

01:36to embrace the West or falls back into Russia's orbit.

01:46Georgians are voting in the seventh general election in just over three years, as their

01:50country faces growing political instability that could encourage the rise of pro-Russian

01:55and far-right sentiment.

01:58Only two of the six general elections since 2021 have produced an elected government.

02:04However, they both collapsed after trying to introduce reforms and cut remnants of the

02:09country's reliance on Russia.

02:12The latest vote held in June produced no clear winner, and the seven factions elected

02:17were unable to put together a viable coalition.

02:20Observers suggest the coming vote will produce more of the same, with chances of an immediate

02:25end to the political stalemate low.

02:29Pollsters predict voter fatigue and disillusionment in the political system will result in a low

02:34turnout and fragmented parliament, where populist and pro-Russian groups could increase their

02:39representation.

03:05Protesters chanted the slogan Justice for Odair as they demonstrated.

03:12Several flags from the Vida Justice movement, which organised the protest, as well as Cape

03:16Verde, flooded the city.

03:19Meanwhile, the right-wing Portuguese party Chegue called for a protest in defence of

03:24the police at the same time in Lisbon.

03:29That protest brought together around 300 people and lasted just over an hour and a half.

03:36In recent days, Portuguese police have reportedly recorded more than 100 incidents of public

03:40disturbances in Lisbon.

03:46Thousands of supporters of jailed far-right activist Tommy Robinson marched through London

03:51as anti-racism demonstrators mounted a nearby counter-protest.

03:55The so-called Unite the Kingdom march planned by Robinson and supposed to feature him as

04:00Speaker led to calls for his freedom after his arrest Friday on a warrant for contempt

04:05of court.

04:06The march was countered by thousands of people organised by the group Stand Up to Racism,

04:11who held signs saying Refugees Welcome and opposed Tommy Robinson.

04:15Robinson is the founder of the Nationalist and Anti-Islamist English Defence League and

04:20remains one of the most influential far-right figures in Britain.

04:24He has been blamed for stirring up protests that turned into a week of violent disorder

04:28across England and the north of Ireland after social media users falsely identified the

04:33suspect in a stabbing rampage that killed three young girls in the seaside community

04:38of Southport as an immigrant and a Muslim.
