00:00October 2024 marks the silver jubilee of American director David Fincher's influential film Fight Club.
00:06The film arrived in theatres back in the year 1999,
00:10featuring Brad Pitt, Jared Leto, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter in significant roles.
00:16Now, to celebrate the film's 25 years of existence,
00:19makers are set to give it a theatrical re-release with a 4K remaster in the coming year.
00:25The news has elated fans across the globe as it will be overseeing a new 4K Ultra HD
00:31remaster of the new Regency and 20th Century Fox film.
00:35Major details are still kept under wraps but the announcement so far reveals that
00:39the film director will also be releasing a 25-year anniversary art book with the
00:44inclusion of new interviews, unearthed visuals and rare behind-the-scenes clippings from the movie.
00:50Back in October 1999, when Fight Club released in the theatres,
00:56it started with a disappointing performance initially but soon became a cult hit.
01:00Over the years, this film became a definite symbol of cinematic innovation
01:05in terms of filmmaking technology and exploration of socio-political themes.
01:11The movie isn't the only classic from the filmmakers' catalogue to receive this renewed
01:15attention. Last year, at the Tribeca Film Festival, David Fincher discussed his work
01:20on a 4K remaster of his 1995 crime thriller Seven, which again featured Brad Pitt in a big role.
01:26In a conversation regarding the enhancement of his old projects, he said,
01:30We are going back and doing it in 4K from the original negative, and we overscan it.
01:36Because there's a lot of stuff that now can be added because of high dynamic range,
01:40so there are a lot of blown-out windows that we have to go back on
01:43and go still a little bit of cityscape out there.
