00:00Should I give my 14-year-old daughter Snapchat?
00:02Kids can communicate with strangers with photos that disappear.
00:06Your job is to protect your kid and keep them safe, not keep them happy.
00:13Of course, if you say no, then your kid is isolated.
00:15Everything gets so much easier if you can coordinate with the parents of two or three of your kid's friends.
00:22You can start these conversations non-judgmentally, just by saying,
00:25Hey, I'd love to talk about all these apps so many kids are on.
00:30No judgment here. We're all on the same team.
00:32We all want what's best for our kids.
00:34I just want to figure it out together.
00:36What kids are really afraid of is being the only one, being alone.
00:40I think it's a great time to look in your community to see if there's a couple other parents
00:45who don't feel satisfied with the fact that their kid might already have these apps.
00:51They might be looking to get off of them and just need a kind of parent-colleague to do it with.
00:58And then try to give them more time together hanging out.
01:00Our kids are starving for hanging out time because everyone's on Snapchat all the time.
