00:00We hope that it will break the cycle of not just more and more children and young people taking up vaping,
00:06we've seen a triple-fold increase in that in the last three years,
00:09but the really alarming trend of more and more children and young people doing that at an earlier age.
00:14We know that it's a habit that can last a lifetime and it can have harmful effects on health and well-being
00:20and we think by banning single-use disposable vapes that we'll be able to help break that cycle
00:26because that's where most young people find their entry point into vaping comes from.
00:30We'll obviously keep the policy under review but we believe that the evidence is clear
00:35that young people are getting into vaping at a much much younger age and often permanently in larger numbers
00:42and they're doing through single-use disposable vapes,
00:46not least because they're cheaper and therefore easier to get hold of.
00:49We think this will have a significant impact in helping to break that cycle.
