It is that week in the year when we celebrate our achievements with recycling but also look
00:15
to see what more we can do.
00:18
Recycling is easy though because as you can see from the new liveries on the lorry, all
00:23
you've got to do to recycle well and to be confident in recycling is look at the label.
00:30
So what label are we looking for?
00:33
We're looking for the unpacked recycling label which tells you with the green swoosh and
00:38
the word recycle that that packaging can go in your recycling bin.
00:45
In West Norfolk it's that easy.
00:49
So what if it doesn't have the green swoosh and the recycle logo?
00:53
Then it may be that it's actually got the black swoosh and the label.
01:00
That goes in your general rubbish bin because it can't be recycled.
01:05
Some things though may not yet have the swoosh on and that's really quite easy still because
01:12
most things which are packaging can be recycled.
01:16
So it could be that it's a plastic tray for bacon or cooked meats.
01:22
If it hasn't got a swoosh on it, is it a plastic tray?
01:26
Then yes, it can be recycled.
01:29
Fruit punnets can be recycled, bottles can be recycled and a bottle includes those bottles
01:35
which we often forget about.
01:37
The ones in the bathroom.
01:39
Shampoo bottles, cleaning bottles, conditioning bottles can all be recycled in your green
01:45
recycling bin.
01:46
All you've got to do is just rinse them out and they're good to go.
01:58
Just remember when I ask you to do some recycling, I'm not asking you to do anything really horrible.
02:06
All I'm asking you to do is look at the label.
02:11
Look for this sign and then pop it in your recycling bin at home.
02:27
Things like plastic bottles, if we recycle them, it saves us having to get more oil out
02:36
of the ground because plastic doesn't disappear.
02:41
It keeps us having to use energy which pollutes the air that we breathe.
02:48
But also even worse, plastics end up in the water which end up in the sea and fish, whales
02:57
and turtles and all of the sea creatures, they end up being actually polluted with really,
03:02
really, really small pieces of plastic.
