00:00The Spray Can
00:04Aha! Footprints, just like I suspected.
00:10Are those your footprints?
00:13Not ours.
00:15Then what's on your shoes?
00:17What a mess I got into.
00:22Phew! It's bug spray!
00:25Elisa! What a terrible smell! What is it?
00:29It's poison!
00:31Why do we need poison?
00:33I've had this annoying suspicion for quite a long time that something is living in our laboratory.
00:38And so, yesterday, after it got dark, I quietly dusted the table with flour.
00:46And so...
00:47Look! Don't you see? Footprints! And I want to destroy them!
00:53Destroy who?
00:54You really haven't figured it out? Cockroaches live here.
00:58A cockroach? That's what she thinks you are.
01:02Er... What makes you sure that it's a cockroach?
01:05What else could it be?
01:07Well... Maybe a spider?
01:09Hmm. Well, spiders are cute. And nice, too.
01:13But then where is the spider? Where?
01:15I don't know.
01:17Exactly! It's cockroaches!
01:20Exactly! It's cockroaches!
01:23That stuff is gross!
01:25Where's that stuff coming from?
01:27It's from an aerosol spray can, Nolik!
01:34Aerosol is made of tiny little drops and particles that can hang in the air for quite a long time.
01:40Dust, smoke, and fog – they are all aerosols.
01:45People learned to make aerosols long ago.
01:47For instance, they took a liquid that repels mosquitoes,
01:50poured it into a can and injected some gas into it.
01:53Then, when you push the button,
01:55the gas forces the liquid to go out through a tiny hole,
01:59turning it into a bug spray.
02:04That spray will poison the Fixies!
02:07We have got to stop Elisa!
02:10Let's destroy the aerosol can!
02:18No way! We just can't do that!
02:21And what if we switch it with a can of whipped cream?
02:35Quit joking!
02:37We've got to get Elisa to believe that it's a spider and not cockroaches!
02:42She thinks spiders are cute!
02:44You're right! Let's go get Buggy!
02:48Spray cans have all sorts of different uses.
02:52For example, they're very convenient for getting medicine into a sore throat.
02:56They can be used to fill the air with the sweet smell of perfume
03:00or to cover unpleasant smells with deodorant.
03:03Spraying paint from a can is also very useful.
03:06It applies the paint very evenly.
03:08Some spray cans are even used for food.
03:11But there can also be deadly poisons inside of spray cans,
03:15like Bug Killer.
03:16So make sure you know which one you're using.
03:19And you must always remember how to handle spray cans properly
03:23so that nobody gets hurt.
03:25You must never open, take apart, or pierce a spray can.
03:29And spray cans should never be heated or put next to an open fire
03:33because they contain gas that can explode.
03:46Buggy! Hi there!
03:50Wait!
03:51Where are you going?
03:52Buggy, we need your help!
03:55Hang on!
03:57Buggy, don't be scared!
03:59We're your friends, right?
04:01Would you help us? Please?
04:06There are new tracks here!
04:08Well, roaches, prepare to die!
04:11Are you ready? Go!
04:15Go ahead!
04:16Run!
04:22Oh, don't kill Buggy!
04:23No!
04:25You are so cute!
04:31What a sweet little spider!
04:34Can I be your friend?
04:37That worked great!
04:39I hope that's the end of her spraying that poison!
04:44My little spider, I almost poisoned you!
04:48Spider, where are you going?
04:50Aren't we friends?
04:52Yeah, that's a good idea.
04:54You're better off being our friend.
04:57Buggy, wait!
04:59She's upset.
05:01She could have been poisoned and we didn't tell her.
05:06I'm sure she'll forgive us if we go and apologize.
05:14The movie!
05:16He fakes left, he shoots!
05:19Class!
05:20And can you do it backwards?
05:22Yeah, sure!
05:28No way!
05:29What a shot!
05:30I wish Simka could see this.
05:32Why don't we make a movie for Simka about fire?
05:35We can use my fixie tub, it's got a camera.
05:38How come it's only for Simka? We'll make it for all of us.
05:41That's a great idea!
05:42I'll shoot the ball at the basket and Nolik will do the filming.
05:45And what do we do?
05:46You can be whatever you want, like cheerleaders or the coaches.
05:49Yeah, a cheerleader!
05:51Help me in!
05:54Motion pictures, or movies, appeared more than 100 years ago
05:58after the invention of celluloid film.
06:00A movie is made up of a series of still photographs, called frames.
06:05When you look at the frames quickly, one after another,
06:08the picture on the screen appears to move.
06:11It's hard to believe, but the first viewers got very scared
06:14when they saw a moving train on the screen.
06:18At first, films were silent.
06:20Only later did people learn to make them sound.
06:24And soon after that, people learned to make movies in full, beautiful color.
06:29Movies aren't shot on film anymore.
06:31They're made with digital cameras.
06:34Today, almost all phones and tablets come with digital cameras inside of them.
06:38This makes it easy for just about anybody to make their own movie
06:42and share it with their friends.
06:51Hey, I haven't turned the camera on yet!
06:54Get ready! Here we go!
07:00Cut! I got it!
07:01Show me!
07:05And where's the ball?
07:06It flew over there!
07:08That's not right! You have to see the ball flying in the picture!
07:12I got it!
07:13Get ready!
07:18How was that?
07:19It worked! I got it!
07:22And where am I?
07:23You're somewhere over there!
07:25And we aren't there! Why did you have us cheering?
07:28Nolik, you need to make sure we're all in the shot!
07:31OK, I'll try!
07:34Go, Nolik!
08:05How about I shoot the ball and Fire films it?
08:08No, Nolik! It's better if Fire takes the shots and you do the filming!
08:11Fire can't even hit the basket!
08:13You try to hit the basket when everybody's bothering you!
08:16Oh, so it's our fault, hmm?
08:18Why don't you learn how to play?
08:20Are you fighting again?
08:22Or shooting a film?
08:24Whoa! Can I see it?
08:26There's nothing for you to see!
08:27All I have is pieces!
08:28And not one is right!
08:30Don't worry! It's no problem!
08:32All it needs is editing!
08:34What does it need?
08:39Movies are not usually shot all at once, just a piece at a time.
08:43And each of these pieces can be shot several times with the camera in different places.
08:49Then there's plenty to choose from!
08:51After you're done shooting, you can take all of the best shots
08:55and put them one after another to make your movie.
08:58This process is called editing.
09:00Editing allows us to make movies that show things
09:03that could be impossible to shoot all at once.
09:09Well, let's see!
09:10For this first shot we've got this take over here.
09:13For the ball going in we've got this one.
09:15And I like this one of me shooting!
09:17And don't forget to put in me and Tula!
09:19Of course not!
09:20So here's what we've got!
09:23Fire is the best!
09:25Tideesh!
09:26The film is super!
09:28Can I try to edit it?
09:29Yeah, go ahead!
09:32Now we have something to show to our teacher!
09:34And Digit too!
09:36And Papus and Masiya!
09:38Look, I did my own editing in the movie!
09:53What was that?
09:54That's not true!
09:55It is so, with editing!
09:58It's just not fair, Nolik!
10:00Fire was able to put it in a hundred times without any editing!
10:04You sure didn't!
10:05Hey guys, don't fight!
10:07Do you want me to teach you all the right way to shoot hoops?
10:10Yeah!
10:11Alright, here we go!
10:13And shoot!
10:15Fire is the best!
10:16Oh, we can shoot the best!
10:18Woo-hoo!
10:19Fire is the best!
10:20Oh, we can shoot the best!
10:22Woo-hoo!
