00:00I don't think they understand the amount of effort that eSports athletes put in
00:03in order to quantify our skills.
00:05So I believe the hard work that we put in cannot be underestimated.
00:21Mobile Legends Bang Bang is a multiplayer online battle arena game
00:25which involves 5 people fighting against 5 people.
00:27And also this game involves 5 different roles coming together.
00:30So it's like Majors, they are Marksmen, Fighters, Junglers which is Assassins
00:35and also Roamers which is Tankers.
00:38Each of these 5 different heroes plays a part in order to help you
00:41take down the enemy's side quests in the game like maybe Turtles and Logs
00:44that speed up your advances into their base
00:47and also helps to take down the enemy's nexus faster.
00:51Hi, I'm Diablo. I play the role of Fighter slash EXP for Team Flash.
00:55Hi, I'm Vanix. I play the role of Marksman slash Golem for Team Flash.
00:59I'm basically a full-time eSports player so I do scrimmages from morning to night
01:03mostly every day in preparation for Mobile Legends Professional League.
01:07So basically scrims is a short form for scrimmage.
01:11It's generally used in sports.
01:14It's a shorter term for like formal tournaments between other teams.
01:17For us, it's a pre-game warm-up.
01:19So we will be fighting against teams from other regions
01:22to know where we stand against each other.
01:24And usually we scrim those top-tier teams from other countries instead of Singapore
01:28because we can learn more strategies and all the macro skills from them.
01:32So if we do manage to win this NPL Singapore season
01:36we will be able to go to eSports World Cup which is held in Saudi.
01:40I will make a marksman farm and I will do my job as well.
01:43So today's objective of the game.
01:46We invade their jungle, we make them cry and we win.
01:54I started out as a casual player back when playing a bit of Mobile Legends here and there during my free time.
02:11So after I ORD from ARMY, I decided to give amateur tournaments a try.
02:17So I formed teams with my online friends which is around 2020.
02:22There's a community tournament that is providing slots to NPL Singapore.
02:26So me and my team decided to give it a try.
02:28And although we didn't qualify, we managed to beat some good teams.
02:32From there, I got scouted by a pro team and that's how I started my eSports career.
02:37When COVID-19 came, there was Circuit Breaker and I played even more.
02:41And that's where I became popular in the game.
02:44Then people know me and then asked me to join community tournaments with them.
02:48My friend contacted me through Instagram to ask me to join a newly formed eSports team
02:52which is called Zion.
02:53And I played with them for two seasons.
02:56Then after that, the team disbanded.
02:58So Flash reached out to me and I've been playing for them ever since.
03:02Throughout my eSports career, I've been awarded three times champions for three consecutive seasons.
03:10Starting from Season 3 until 6.
03:12And also I was awarded the Grand Finals MVP for Season 4.
03:15As well as Vanity Fair is awarded Season 6 regular season MVP.
03:20I feel happy when I was awarded the regular season MVP during Season 6
03:24because it shows that I'm one of the good players out there and able to lead my team to victory.
03:29So for us, because this is a new team,
03:32so basically I've been asked to join the team on January and that's where we started our training.
03:38Technically, I've been with the team for four months already from January till now.
03:42I would say we require a lot of bonding sessions as well as different training schedules
03:49because this team, there are people who are busy.
03:51This team, there are people who are free all the time.
03:53So we make up by adjusting to each other's schedule
03:56and accommodating our free time to help each other out.
03:59And also I feel like what's important for this team is our synergy
04:03because it's a newly formed team.
04:04We haven't been together for more than a year.
04:07It's just starting from this year that we are formed.
04:09So I believe that communication and also trusting each other is very important.
04:14The disadvantage of having an esports career is
04:17we will be spending most of our time training, playing games.
04:21So we will have less time to spend outside with our family, friends and all.
04:26I still think this journey is quite fun because it's doing something that I like.
04:32And for this team, usually we will have off days
04:34so that we will have time for ourselves and our family.
04:39A few days later...
04:56Hello, Medic! What's up?
04:58So this is the current DimFlash lineup.
05:00The person beside me is JPL, he's the roamer.
05:04And then beside JPL is Diablo, he's the EXP laner.
05:08In front of me is Hades, he's the jungler.
05:10And beside him is Khatizzy, who is the mid.
05:14And the person on the computer is Adamir, he's the code slash sub for Golem.
05:19And we're gonna start scrimming now.
05:38Coming, coming, coming.
06:08The burst from Jay! Too much for RNG to hold!
06:12No way!
06:13Secures the low for himself, a knock-up onto Aoki, purified immediately.
06:17Hard guard, a massive teamfight.
06:19Fnatic's a little bit slow in terms of damage, but there it comes.
06:22Jay dragging Aoki.
06:23Hades, Hades, Hades!
06:25On the other side of the map, DimFlash delaying the inevitable.
06:29RNG will be going for the kill.
06:32Hades, Hades, Hades!
06:34The base, the base!
06:36Goal!
06:38Struggles!
06:39We didn't expect this.
06:40We thought another record will be broken where we see a fourth-time champion.
06:46But here, we have brand new kings right here in Singapore
06:50that will represent us over on the international stage at the M5s.
06:55And we hope that all of the other regions can take a look at us,
06:59at our brand new kings, because they fought hard and they fought valiantly.
07:05So right here for Singapore, we present Team Flash.
07:10For criticism, we do get negative feedbacks online from other people.
07:14But usually how we will deal with it is we just tend to ignore the pointless ones.
07:18The ones that actually give us good feedbacks,
07:20we will take them in and see whether we can improve ourselves or not.
07:24Because I would say in esports, there's always room for improvement.
07:28So we take feedbacks seriously.
07:30I don't think they understand the amount of effort that we,
07:33as esports athletes, put in in order to fortify our skills.
07:37Because the amount of training that we do is no less than regular sports athletes.
07:41We train from morning till night and we do it consistently.
07:45We don't do it one day and then we rest.
07:47We do it consistently to make sure that our skills will not get rusty.
07:52So I believe the hard work that we put in cannot be underestimated.
07:57My lowest moments in esports career is during NPL Season 4 when I was still in Zion.
08:02I was relegated. I got last place and got kicked out of NPL Season 4.
08:07My mum saw and she wasn't really happy that I was playing esports
08:12because my studies weren't that well also.
08:15I convinced her by telling her that to give me one more chance to play
08:18and I'll do well for my studies also.
08:20Then she said okay and then after that I showed her the result in NPL Season 5
08:25where I got second place.
08:26And that's when my studies also got better.
08:29So she was okay with it after that.
08:31These are the three important qualities that you need to be an esports player.
08:34Firstly, your skills. You need to have the skills to be a player.
08:37And your mental needs to be strong because
08:40there are definitely times where you will lose but you cannot let that affect you.
08:44Second thing is to have teamwork because this is a 5v5 game and not a solo game.
08:49I also think that you need to be disciplined
08:51because sometimes there are things that you shouldn't do
08:53but you need to have the discipline to hold you back.
08:56And lastly, you need to be committed.
08:58If you're not committed, then it's not ideal to be an esports player.
09:03As an esports player, I want to push myself to greater heights.
09:06And definitely what I want to achieve in the end is
09:09of course the person who will be supporting the future generations to come.
09:14And I want to build a legacy in Singapore MLBV
09:16as the one who brought Singapore to be the world champion.
09:20That's my goal.
09:21And so that people in the future can look up to me
09:23as someone who they aspire to be in the future.
09:26When they step into the MLBV scene in Singapore,
09:29I hope to achieve another one and represent Singapore again
09:32such as the Esports World Cup.
09:35And I hope that I'll be able to get the championship
09:38for the international competition also
09:40and showing that Singapore is also a strong team.
