00:10You undergo a series of very complicated and painful surgeries to straighten the spine,

00:16to fuse the vertebrae into one longer bone.

00:19It's very hazardous. Like I said, it's very painful.

00:23And Anna was with you during the surgeries?

00:26She inspired me.

00:29And she never pitied me.

00:34Or she did. She just did it better than everybody else.

00:38We helped each other with our schoolwork.

00:41She was my friend.

00:43And one day, I made a mistake.

00:47I tried to kiss her.

00:51She was horrified.

00:54It was disgusting.

00:56She said that?

00:57No, not in so many words.

01:01Wow. My God.

01:03You didn't know me back then.
