00:00This is an ancient tomb discovered just last year in China, called the Wangzhong Ruins.
00:09The burial chamber is an exceptionally large 182 square feet, and now experts say they
00:14have dated the site as having been built some 5,000 years ago.
00:18The area was likely occupied during the Dao Wenku culture, which existed in the area from
00:22around 4000 BC to 2600 BC, with the archaeologists saying that this tomb specifically, given
00:27its size and wealth of artifacts, likely belonged to royalty.
00:31Since its discovery, archaeologists have unearthed some 350 artifacts.
00:35Experts also say that this likely means the ruins around the tomb are the remains of the
00:39ancient civilization's capital.
00:42This is just one of many tombs discovered recently in central China's Henan province.
00:46This year alone, some 45 Dao Wenku culture tombs have been unearthed.
00:50As part of other excavations, archaeologists have uncovered around 1,000 burial artifacts,
00:55providing new clues about the long-lost peoples.
00:57The Dao Wenku culture was one of the first in Asia to begin farming and making pottery
01:02and musical instruments.
