00:00I was reading this article and I started talking to Mark about it and Mark got very defensive.

00:07Kelly Ripa brings up a touchy subject on Live with Kelly and Mark.

00:12During the October 11th episode of her daytime show that she co-hosts with her husband,

00:18Mark Consuelos, the 54-year-old brings up the idea of divorce

00:22live on air and reveals that she might want a, quote, gray divorce.

00:27Do you know what gray divorces are? No?

00:30Well you came, you came home, you came home from the trip and you're like,

00:33I read this amazing article. I go, tell me about it.

00:36I didn't say amazing, I said fascinating. Fascinating.

00:38Fascinating article. And I go, what's it called?

00:41She goes, the astonishing rise of gray divorce. I'm like, do tell.

00:47So it's, these are people that get divorced, you know, in their 50s.

00:51Yeah. Like it's like after or later.

00:53Like when, when you think that you're beyond, you know,

00:57you're beyond the vulnerability portion of your life where you're like,

01:01I'm married, I've been married for 182 years. He's not going anywhere.

01:06Kelly then explains what happens during a gray divorce

01:09and some of the things that contribute to a couple separating.

01:12But it seems like the husband and wife duo might not be able to fully relate.

01:17They're saying that empty nest syndrome can contribute to that.

01:21That's a real thing.

01:22Relationships are so built upon the children that once the children leave.

01:27The couple finds that they no longer have anything in common.

01:33We still have a lot in common.

02:04While it appears Kelly and Mark, who share kids Michael, Lola and Joaquin,

02:10aren't actually pondering a divorce of any kind,

02:13Kelly admits the narrator of the article was so fascinating that she thought,

02:18Oh, I want one.

02:19I listened to it.

02:21It was an article that was on audio and you really have to hear it read to you

02:27because there's something about the narrator's voice that I find very funny.

02:30Oh, really?

02:31Yes.

02:32They're like, the astonishing rise of the gray divorce.

02:36And I was like, Oh, I want one.

02:38Like it sounds, you know, it sounds like something amazing.

02:42And then, and then you realize, Oh, this is very dark subject matter.

02:46But the voice of the narrator is so soothing.

02:49And the two have made no question of how much they love each other,

02:53with Mark even giving a very special shout out to Kelly for her recent birthday.

02:58Posting to Instagram a cute montage of throwback pics of his wife,
