00:00Hello there. It's been a weekend of mixed fortunes across the UK. Showers and longer

00:05spells of rain kept some of us inside, looking through windows that were rather wet in nature.

00:11But for others, it has actually stayed relatively dry, even if there has been a fair amount

00:16of cloud around. Quite a nice shot here from Kanti Amma in Northern Ireland. We'll retain

00:22this slightly mixed set up as we start off the new working week as well, because low

00:26pressure will still be in charge for Monday, but it is gradually shifting its way eastwards

00:31and that's allowing a feed of colder air to feed in from the Arctic, which we've already

00:36seen across Scotland, but it will be pushing its way now across the rest of the UK into

00:40Monday as well. For Sunday evening, at least, that colder air is going to allow for some

00:46snow over the higher ground, but increasingly to lower levels of Northern Scotland. The

00:50rain across the southeast will clear its way off from the showers also fading for England

00:54and Wales, but more rain pushing into Northern Ireland for the second half of the night.

00:59Some clearer spells in places and that will allow temperatures to just drop off ever so

01:03slightly in Apache. Frost is possible, particularly for areas of central Scotland, but otherwise

01:09most towns and cities holding up around four to six degrees Celsius. This rain then across

01:15Northern Ireland will provide a quite damp start to the new working week, and it's then

01:18going to push its way into Wales and central southern areas of England. Could be quite

01:23heavy at times, maybe with the odd rumble of thunder in the mixture as well, and generally

01:27the southern half of the UK will turn quite cloudy. Some sunnier spells developing for

01:32the northern half in between those scattered showers. They'll be most frequent across the

01:37north and the east, where they could still be wintry at times as they push into those

01:41coastal areas. Feeling rather cold for all of us. Temperatures a good number of degrees

01:47below average compared to where we would expect them at this time of the year, but it's going

01:52to be particularly cold along some eastern and northern coastal areas where we're going

01:56to see quite a blustery wind throughout the day. And when you're exposed to that, feels

02:00like temperatures will be low. Single figures across north east England, but closer to freezing

02:05across parts of north east Scotland. So really quite bitter if you are outside here. Otherwise,

02:12as we head throughout the rest of Monday, we'll see that rain gradually push its way

02:16southwards. So quite a damp end for London. Sorry, interviews, Kent and Sussex, but widespread

02:22clear skies developing after that and turning dry for many of us. But underneath those clear

02:28skies, temperatures are really going to plummet on Monday night. Much more of a widespread

02:32frost possible across Scotland, northern England, even into Wales and Northern Ireland as well.

02:38So if you do have any tender plants outside at the moment, it could be worth just bringing

02:43them inside for Monday night at least. Through Tuesday, we are seeing things settle down

02:50a bit more, and that's thanks to a ridge of high pressure that is building its way

02:53in and keeping these weather fronts at bay. So despite the very cold start, there's actually

02:58going to be a good amount of sunshine throughout the day. Still, some showers filtering their

03:03way in across northern areas of Scotland and they'll still be wintry at times. The cloud

03:07will bubble up in places as well, but winds will ease off across eastern areas and hopefully

03:13with those lighter winds and the sunshine in place, it will at least feel just like

03:17that slightly more better day compared to Monday. Temperatures are still going to be

03:22well below average for the time of year, only highs of nine to 12 degrees Celsius. That

03:30dry weather isn't going to last throughout the rest of the week, though we do have to

03:33watch for this rain that wants to start pushing its way in from the southwest towards the

03:38middle point of the week. But we'll keep you up to date with all of that as we head throughout
