00:00The Armed Forces of the Philippines, or AFP, said the ongoing joint relief operations between

00:05the country and the U.S. highlight the importance of the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement,

00:10or EDCA, between the two nations.

00:13This as the MV-22B Osprey aircraft of U.S. Marines also assisted in bringing relief aid

00:19to Batanes, which was affected by Super Typhoon Julian.

00:24Some of the relief items were provided by the U.S. Agency for International Development.

00:29Moreover, the Philippine Air Force continues to assist, using their so-called helicopter

00:34to bring more relief items to Itbayat, Batanes, with personnel from the Department of Social

00:39Welfare and Development, or DSWD, leading the distribution of cash assistance to those

00:44affected by the typhoon.

00:48In the operations and the exercises that we do, it's heavy not only on defense, but also

00:56on humanitarian assistance and disaster response.

00:58And these exercises that we do in Balikatan, in LACNIV exercises, this is the actual implementation,

01:07the actual incident that happened, and you can see how we are using the training that

01:13we have conducted in real life.
