00:09Camino, formerly called Oficita is a small island of the Maltese Archipelago
00:14between the islands of Malta and Gozo in the Mediterranean Sea,
00:18measuring 3.5 square kilometers in area.
00:30Between the islands of Malta and Gozo is a very little and quite tranquil island called Camino,
00:47also known as Kemuna in Maltese.
00:52Only a few people live on the island,
00:54and both Maltese citizens and tourists typically travel there for a day excursion.
01:01Camino is frequently a sought-after location for camping
01:05or day hikes throughout the island for more daring Maltese.
01:30Camino, which received its name from the profusion of cumin,
01:44a blooming plant that lives there,
01:46is a lush island covered with wildflowers and herbs.
01:51Today, the entire island is designated as a wildlife sanctuary.
01:57With steep cliffs, two little sandy beaches, coves, creeks,

02:04the island is primarily made of the inhalers that is relatively underdeveloped.
02:11And of course, Camino Island is well known for the renowned Blue Lagoon Bay
02:15with its azure-colored water and crystal-clear surroundings.
02:26Camino is only 2 km long and 1.7 km wide,
02:38has a small population of farmers, no tarmac roads, and a few cars.
02:45If you're looking for peace and quiet during your vacation,
02:48the island is a wonderful day trip destination
02:51that offers a total change of pace from its neighboring islands of Malta and Gozo.
03:10The Blue Lagoon is Camino's primary draw and the major reason to travel there.
03:16Due to its high level of popularity among tourists,
03:19it will be crowded with people from mid-morning to mid-afternoon
03:23in the peak months of July and August.
03:45Going off-peak season is preferable if you're more interested in touring the entire island
03:50July, August and usually September still is well.
03:56Not because of the sweltering summer sun, but rather because of the crowds.
