00:00The smartest giant in town

00:26George was a giant, the scruffiest giant in town.

00:30He always wore the same pair of old brown sandals and the same old patched up gown.

00:38I wish I wasn't the scruffiest giant in town, he said sadly.

01:04But one day George noticed a new shop.

01:08It was full of smart clothes.

01:11So he bought a smart shirt, a smart pair of trousers, a smart belt, a smart stripy tie,

01:31some smart socks with diamonds up the sides, and a pair of smart shiny shoes.

01:43Now I'm the smartest giant in town, he said proudly.

01:51George left his old clothes behind in the shop.

01:55He was about to go home when he heard a sound.

01:58On the pavement stood a giraffe who was sniffling sadly.

02:02What's the matter, asked George.

02:05It's my neck, said the giraffe, it's so very long and so very cold.

02:12I wish I had a long warm scarf.

02:27Cheer up, said George, and he took off his stripy tie.

02:50It didn't match my socks anyway, he said as he wound it round and round the giraffe's

02:56neck.

02:57It made a wonderful scarf.

02:59Thank you, said the giraffe.

03:03As George strode towards home, he sang to himself, my tie is a scarf for a cold giraffe

03:10but look me up and down.

03:13I'm the smartest giant in town.

03:36George came to a river.

03:49On a boat stood a goat who was bleating loudly.

03:53What's the matter, asked George.

03:58It's my sail, said the goat, it blew away in the storm.

04:03I wish I had a strong new sail for my boat.

04:30Cheer up, said George, and he took off his new white shirt.

04:36It kept coming untucked anyway, he said as he tied it to the mast of the goat's boat.

04:42It made a magnificent sail.

04:45Thank you, said the goat.

04:49George strode on, singing to himself, my tie is a scarf for a cold giraffe, my shirt's

04:56on a boat as a sail for a goat, but look me up and down, I'm the smartest giant in

05:04town.

05:16George came to a tiny ruined house.

05:19Beside the house stood a white mouse with lots of baby mice.

05:23They were all squeaking.

05:26What's the matter, asked George.

05:28It's our house, squeaked the mother mouse, it burnt down and now we have nowhere to live.

05:37I wish we had a nice new house.

05:49Cheer up, said George, and he took off one of his shiny shoes.

05:55It was giving me blisters anyway, he said as the mouse and her baby scrambled inside.

06:02The shoe made a perfect home for them.

06:04Thank you, they squeaked.

06:14George had to hop along the road now, but he didn't mind.

06:19As he hopped, he said to himself, my tie is a scarf for a cold giraffe, my shirt's on

06:25a boat as a sail for a goat, my shoe is a house for a little white mouse, but look me

06:32up and down, I'm the smartest giant in town.

06:49George came to a campsite.

06:51Beside a tent stood a fox who was crying.

06:54What's the matter, asked George.

07:02It's my sleeping bag, said the fox.

07:05I dropped it in a puddle.

07:07I wish I had a warm, dry sleeping bag.

07:16Cheer up, said George, and he took off one of his socks with diamonds up the sides.

07:22It was tickling my toes anyway, he said as the fox snuggled into it.

07:28It made a very fine sleeping bag.

07:30Thank you, said the fox.

07:35George hopped on, singing to himself.

08:08George came to a big squelchy bog.

08:11Beside the bog stood a dog who was howling.

08:15What's the matter, asked George.

08:19It's this bog, said the dog.

08:24I need to get across, but I keep getting stuck in the mud.

08:28I wish there was a safe, dry path.

08:38Cheer up, said George, and he took off his smart new belt.

08:43It was squashing my tummy anyway, he said as he laid it down over the bog.

08:48It made an excellent path.

08:51Thank you, said the dog.

08:58The wind started to blow, but George didn't mind.

09:03He hopped on, singing to himself.

09:19a dog who was crossing a bog, but...

09:40My trousers are falling down, I'm the coldest giant in town.

09:52Suddenly George felt sad and shivery and not at all smart.

09:57He stood on one foot and thought, I'll have to go back to the shop and buy some more clothes,

10:04he decided.

10:06He turned around and hopped all the way back to the shop.

10:24But when he got there, it was closed.

10:28Oh no, cried George.

10:31He sank down onto the doorstep and a tear ran down his nose.

10:36He felt as sad as all the animals he had met on his way home.

10:42Then, out of the corner of his eyes, he saw a bag with something familiar poking out of

10:50the top.

10:51George took a closer look.

10:57My gown, he yelled, my dear old gown and sandals.

11:03George put them on, they felt wonderfully comfortable.

11:07I'm the coziest giant in town, he cried, and he danced back home along the road.

11:20Outside his front door stood all the animals he had helped.

11:24They were carrying an enormous present.

11:27Come on George, they said, open it.

11:31George untied the ribbon.

11:33Inside was a beautiful gold paper crown and a card.

11:38Look inside the card, George, said the animals.

11:42George put the crown on his head and opened the card.

11:53Inside it said, You gave your scarf to a cold giraffe, your shirts on a boat as a sale

12:00for a goat, your shoe is a house for a little white mouse, one of your socks is a bed for

12:06a fox, your belt helped a dog who was crossing a bog, so here is a very fine crown to go

12:13with the sandals and gown of the kindest giant in town.
