A Liverpool hospice providing support for babies and children with life-threatening illnesses is set to close by the end of the year after failing to find funding for a new building before its lease runs out.

00:09building before its lease runs out. Zoe's Place, which launched in 1995,
00:14had been hoping to build a new ÂŁ3.5 million hospice at Haymans Green, near to its current
00:20location on Yewtree Lane in West Derby. However, long waits for planning permission and issues
00:25with funding could see the hospice close after 29 years.
00:29Since announcing the closure, Zoe's Place has received more than ÂŁ1.3 million in donations
00:34via its official fundraising page, receiving support from thousands of people including
00:39local businesses. However, the charity says they need at least ÂŁ3.5 million to secure
00:44their future in the city and build a new hospice. For three decades, Zoe's Place has been offering
00:48respite palliative and end-of-life care for children up to the age of five. A further two
00:52sites in Coventry and Middlesbrough have since launched and are unaffected by the closure of
00:57the Liverpool hospice.
