00:00Thursday the 26th of September 2024 was National Manufacturing Day, so at Warren Services we

00:06welcomed in 300 primary school children from both Deptford and Brandon to show them around

00:11both Fison and Brickfields factory sites. At Fison we started with splitting each school

00:17into two groups and leading them on a tour, one led by Will, our Managing Director, the

00:22second led by Jed, a former apprentice who now works here at Warren. The primary school

00:26students got the chance to look around the factories, see current projects, former projects,

00:32as well as experiment with tools and machines like demonstrated by Will here. We got to

00:36show them a variety of different machines that we have here, from things that cut, to

00:41things that fold or the welding bays we have on this site compared to only having one at

00:45Brickfields. Each class got to look and feel a piece of metal which had the word Warren

00:50engraved into it, they also got to take one home as a memento for their class. Having

00:55the students here at Warren is vital as we can inspire as many young people as we can

00:59to go into engineering, this is why we welcomed so many for National Manufacturing Day and

01:04they got to see not only the machine side of things but also our quality control areas

01:08and meet other employees such as Susie. As well as this, they also got to look at the

01:13storage methods we have at Warren, like this storage system here which orders the parts

01:17once we've run out without even having to be told to. It was important we showed them

01:21as many different things as we could while they were here so they could understand that

01:25it's not just one thing we do here at Warren. Once finished at our Fison site, students

01:30got to move on to our Brickfields site and these tours were ran by Este and Alistair.

01:35Students got to follow the whole manufacturing process which starts at our Fison Way site

01:39and ultimately ends up here at Brickfields. They were able to ask questions and receive

01:44their answers no matter how big or small each question was, from funny to logical, every

01:50question was answered. Each group was given the opportunity to participate in practical

01:55activities and we gave as many as possible the opportunity to do so. And trust me, a

02:00lot of them wanted to participate. Not only did they get to participate in practical activities

02:05but also got to compare the two sites as this was the only welding bay at our Brickfields

02:10site compared to what they'd previously seen on our Fison site. All students seemed to

02:15really enjoy learning all about Warren services and about our projects we were working on

02:19and the ones we had done in the past. The paint area was another area of interest that

02:23students got to walk through to look at finished projects that had come out of the paint machine.

02:28They then got the chance to look at these printers and spend some time constructing

02:32their very own cardboard boxes. The final hands-on element of the day for these students,

02:37demonstrated here by Alistair, was when they got the opportunity to take it in turns to

02:41crimp their own wires, see how they connect in the box and look at the fuse. As a final

02:46goodbye and thank you to everyone for participating in National Manufacturing Day, we gave everyone

02:52a star-shaped tree decoration as well as their own water bottles with Warren services written

02:56on it. We can't wait to hopefully welcome and inspire more students soon.
