00:00The island of Sodor is a wonderful place. Thomas enjoys puffing all over the island.

00:12There are lots of special places to visit.

00:16Where's this?

00:20That's right, it's the coaling plant.

00:25The coaling plant is a very important place on the island of Sodor.

00:31All the steam engines need coal, so every day is a busy day at the coaling plant.

00:42One day Thomas had been given shiny new trucks.

00:46He didn't want to get them dirty.

00:49So Thomas backed his new trucks slowly and carefully under the hopper.

00:55But Thomas's new trucks wanted to be dirty,

00:59so they biffed and bashed just as the coal came out of the hopper.

01:05Thomas and the trucks were covered in coal, but the trucks were much happier being dirty.

01:14Coal trucks are not only dirty, they're heavy.

01:18One winter's day Edward had to work with James.

01:23The tracks were very icy.

01:26James was in a hurry, but Edward didn't want to rush.

01:30James didn't know how very icy the tracks were.

01:34His wheels started to slip and slide.

01:38James applied his brakes as hard as he could, but it was too late.

01:48Luckily, no one was hurt.

01:52Working in the coaling plant is dirty work, and some engines like to stay clean.

02:00One day the railway inspector was going to give a prize.

02:04James, Gordon and Emily were each quite sure they'd win.

02:10They wanted to find the sunniest spot at the coaling plant to show off their shiny paintwork.

02:17James wanted to be in the best place.

02:20Then there was trouble.

02:22He didn't look where he was going.

02:25He reversed into some trucks.

02:28They rolled backwards into a lever,

02:33which opened the coal hopper and covered the engines in coal.

02:39It was a disaster.

02:42James, Emily and Gordon were covered in coal dust.

02:47Just then the railway inspector and the fat controller arrived.

02:52Gordon blew to clear his funnel,

02:55and the railway inspector and the fat controller were covered in dust too.

03:01So that's why the coaling plant is very special for James.

03:07There are so many special places on the island of Sodor.
