00:00Hey guys, I'm Nisa Homey and welcome back to my channel. Today's video is a highly requested video
00:05and I'm showing you how to make Moringa powder at home. Moringa or
00:10drumstick leaves are considered as one of the most nutritious plant and is best known as the miracle tree and
00:18Moringa leaves are the most nutritious part of the tree. The benefits of Moringa leaves are numerous. Moringa helps to burn fat
00:27especially belly fat. It helps to accelerate your metabolism and thus it helps in weight loss, supply natural energy,
00:34control and lower blood pressure, gives a clear smooth and glowing skin, helps to balance
00:39hormones and hence it is a very good dietary supplement for those with hormonal issues like thyroid and PCOS.
00:46Moringa builds up the body's immune system and helps to resist infections. They create good cholesterol,
00:53reduces allergy issues, relax and soothe the nervous system. They have an amazing high level of
01:00antioxidants, helps to reduce inflammation of the body.
01:03So Moringa is a good natural remedy to reduce water retention. The high calcium content in Moringa helps to protect and nourish your bones.
01:11So if you have a calcium deficiencies, arthritis then include Moringa in your diet.
01:16And these are some of the reasons why I include Moringa in my recipes. Now to make Moringa powder,
01:22first you need to shade dry the leaves. Once you get some fresh leaves, wash them thoroughly since Moringa is found in most
01:30backyards here in Kerala. It is completely organic, but there may be some dirt, dust or even bird poops on the leaves.
01:37So wash it thoroughly and spread it on a clean cotton cloth.
01:40You can also cover with another cloth to speed up the drying process.
01:44Once they are dried, remove them from the stem into a large plate and then spread it out.
01:50Small fine stems on the leaves are okay, but make sure there are no hard stems.
01:54I got two large plates of leaves and I'm placing it inside the room away from sunlight.
02:00Now if you are in the middle of a harsh summer, you can cover the leaves with a thin cotton cloth to protect from the sun rays.
02:07It's about 24 hours and this is how the leaves look. The color has not changed and the leaves has not shrunk much.
02:15After that, I covered it with a thin cotton cloth and kept it on the kitchen countertop for another four to five days.
02:22On the sixth day, this is how it looks. The leaves are completely dry and crisp. You can hear the crunchy crisp sound.
02:33Okay, now the leaves are ready to be powdered. Before that, a word about drying time of the leaves.
02:39It will vary with the temperature while drying this. We had some rains and the climate was not very hot.
02:44So how fast the leaves dry depends on the climate of the place you live. Roughly, it can take anywhere from two to seven days.
02:52Now I'm storing some dried leaves in a glass container so that I can use them in some recipes which I'll be sharing soon.
02:59You can get dried moringa leaves online if you don't have access to fresh leaves.
03:03The idea of this video is to show you how the leaves look when it is dried and powdered.
03:09I also will be keeping this in a dark cool place in a cupboard so that it is away from sunlight.
03:17Now let me show you how to make moringa powder. For that, I'm using my small chutney grinder or you can use your coffee grinder.
03:24Just fill it up with the dried leaves and run the grinder a couple of times or until the leaves are powdered.
03:31Now you can see how green and fresh my homemade moringa powder is. Transfer it to a glass container
03:38which has an airtight lid. Store it away from sunlight in a dark and cool place.
03:43So guys I hope you got an idea how to dry moringa leaves and how to powder them.
03:48I made this video just to show you guys how moringa powder can be made at home even though
