Tunisia's previous two elections have been praised for meeting democratic norms since

the overturn of the autocratic Ben Ali in the 2011 Arab Spring.

But recent actions, such as arrests made by Saied-appointed officials, raised questions

on whether this election meets those same norms.

Democracy advocates have been urging the European Union to put more pressure onto the government.

But since migration has drastically fallen since the recent deal with the EU and Tunisia

under Saied's ruling, analysts fear that this important role of the incumbent president
