People will tell you that the expanded College Football Playoff has rendered regular season games meaningless. Direct them to the Husky Stadium scenes where Washington defeated No. 10 Michigan to exact revenge for the National Championship Game loss they suffered the previous season. The win won’t bring the trophy to Montlake. But it's easy to overlook given how happy everything is in Seattle.

Following three quarters of positional play, Jonah Coleman's touchdown, an interception by Kamren Fabiculanan, and Will Rogers's bullying of Will Jonhson—of all people—to force him into a huge defensive pass interference penalty and incur a roughing the passer flag—helped Washington shut out Michigan.

Was there ever any doubt? After all, Michael Penix Jr. was in attendance on Saturday and had never lost a game at Husky Stadium.

Don't respond to that.

Denzel Boston was found in the endzone by Will Rogers, giving the Huskies an early 7-0 lead. Rogers transferred to UW last season and watched the National Championship Game from the sidelines. Later on, he connected with Giles Jackson for a 16-yard touchdown to put the Dawgs ahead 14–7.

After that, Michigan started to click.

00:24Following three quarters of positional play, Jonah Coleman's touchdown, an interception
00:29by Cameron Fabiculanan, and Will Rogers's bullying of Will Johnson — of all people
00:34— to force him into a huge defensive pass interference penalty and incur a roughing
00:38the passer flag, helped Washington shut out Michigan.
00:43Was there ever any doubt?
00:45After all, Michael Penix Jr. was in attendance on Saturday and had never lost a game at Husky
00:50Stadium.
00:51Don't respond to that.
00:54Denzel Boston was found in the endzone by Will Rogers, giving the Huskies an early 7-0
01:00lead.
01:01Rogers transferred to UW last season and watched the national championship game from the sidelines.
01:07Later on, he connected with Giles Jackson for a 16-yard touchdown to put the Dogs ahead
01:1314-7.
01:15After that, Michigan started to click.
01:18Alex Orji got off to a slow start, so the Wolverines looked to Jack Tuttle for help.
01:24With him at the center, Michigan's offense was noticeably better despite two costly turnovers
01:29in the fourth quarter.
01:31Tuttle led a string of successful scoring drives that cut UW's lead to 14-10.
01:37The third quarter began with Michigan's offense rolling, and Tuttle finished a 75-yard drive
01:42with an 8-yard touchdown pass.
01:45Then the Huskies discovered who he was.
01:49After intercepting Rogers, Tuttle was unable to capitalize because the Dog defense punched
01:54the ball out on the subsequent drive, keeping Michigan scoreless for the remainder of the
01:58game.
01:59The turnover gave the Huskies excellent field position, and Jonah Coleman took advantage
02:04of it to put together a foreplay, 32-yard scoring drive on his own to give the team
02:09a 24-17 lead.
02:12Cameron Fabiculanan made the play of the game by intercepting Tuttle to give the offense
02:16more excellent field position with Husky Stadium rocking and confidence sky-high.
02:21Once more, the Huskies looked to Coleman, but on a crucial third down, they trusted
02:26Will Rogers.
02:28What was the outcome?
02:30Roughing the passer and defensive pass interference on Will Rogers against Denzel Boston.
02:36Grady Gross was set up from 32 yards out by the Huskies by keeping the ball on the ground.
02:42He took advantage, putting his recent problems behind him and giving the Dogs and Wolverines
02:47that 10-point lead.
02:49With Washington's official admission to the Big Ten, a Saturday night matchup against
02:53Michigan under the lights of Husky Stadium became one of many idyllic scenes.
02:59What was the outcome?
03:00All that UW could have dreamed of.
03:03With the win, Washington improved to 4-2, 2-1 Big Ten, and will play in Iowa the following
03:10Saturday.
