00:00John Seeley was woken by a 3am phone call that is every parent's worst nightmare.
00:09His daughter had been found murdered in her bed.
00:13The Standard has been looking into the cold case death of Alison Seeley who was murdered
00:17in her Wandsed Street unit in 2003.
00:21Police believe the 35 year old woman was bludgeoned to death in the middle of the night.
00:27Her killer, to this day, has never been found.
00:34Alison's father, John, was woken by a phone call about 3am on August 1, 2003.
00:41It was his son, Graham, who was working the police night shift, saying he needed to tell
00:45him something.
00:47In a self-published memoir, Mr Seeley said his son came out and gave him the news that
00:52Alison was dead.
00:54She had been found in her Warnable unit.
00:58She had been murdered.
00:59Alison's father spent years searching for clues until he died just days before the 19th
01:04anniversary of her death on July 25, 2022.
01:09Mr Seeley was aged 86.
01:12His granddaughter, Triona Glare, who spoke about her mother's murder publicly for the
01:16first time in August, said she wished her poppy could have received the closure he needed
01:21before his death.
01:23I wish my poppy, Alison's dad, could have received the closure he needed for his daughter
01:28before he sadly passed away, but I know that there are other family, and myself, that always
01:33hope we will receive some form of closure.
01:36Since the launch of Answers for Alison in July, The Standard has heard from a number
01:40of members of the public with information they believe is relevant to the case.
01:45In his memoir, John said his daughter's death was the most purposeless tragedy inflicted
01:50on his family.
01:52It enormously affected all of us and continued to do so, but the police never give up on
01:57such murders, and this case is not closed.
02:01We hope to hear from anyone who knew Alison or remembered something from that time.
02:05You never know, your tip could save a two-decade-old cold case.
