00:00Syed Sadi, Syed Abdul Rahman has apologised to a former advisor of ex-premier Datuk Srinajib Razak
00:06in full settlement of a defamation suit filed by the latter against him.
00:10The former youth and sports minister made the apology to businessman Datuk Habibul Rahman Kadir Shah
00:15in the KL Sessions Court on Thursday.
00:18The apology is part of the consent judgement recorded in court.
00:21I want to thank Habibul, thank the lawyers for not offering a session, a couple of sessions
00:28to reach this agreement of apology from my side and for agreeing to my apology.
00:39I believe the statement has been handed out. I must stick to the statement
00:44and beyond the statement, I think it's important to move forward.
00:50But while I move forward, it's also important to also acknowledge that when a mistake is made,
00:56the mistake must be admitted, must be mentioned in and outside of court,
01:02and the court may be on that must be corrected. That's exactly why the statement of apology
01:07has been read outside and will be shared outside.
01:11In the two-page statement, Syed Sadiq expressed his regret and hoped that the apology will help
01:16restore Habibul's good name and mend the professional and personal relationship between them.
01:21Habibul Rahman had sued the Muar MP over remarks the latter made at a press conference at the
01:26Sri Pacific Hotel in Kuala Lumpur in 2017 when he was part of Party Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.
01:32Habibul Rahman was represented by Datuk Sri Dr Jahabardin Yunus
01:36and Nur Azrin Muhammad Zakir, while Lim Weijet appeared for Syed Sadiq.
