00:00
Good morning, I am Benison Estareja.
00:04
We have another update regarding the typhoon Hulian with international name Kraton,
00:09
as of 5 in the morning, Thursday.
00:13
As of 4 in the morning, the typhoon Hulian was last seen,
00:17
that's 265 kilometers north of Itbayat, Batanes.
00:21
It continued to weaken at 140 kilometers per hour,
00:24
very close to his eyes, and gustiness up to 170 kilometers per hour.
00:29
And it is still moving slowly,
00:32
the speed of the typhoon Hulian is less than 5 kilometers per hour.
00:36
It can be seen here in our satellite animation,
00:39
the areas in southern Taiwan where there is a strong rain,
00:43
while there is no rain that can be experienced,
00:45
only light to moderate rains here in the north and central Luzon.
00:50
Meanwhile, it can be seen in our satellite animation
00:53
that there are clouds, red colors, and sometimes strong thunderstorms
00:57
because of the easterlies, or the wind from the east,
01:01
particularly the Pacific Ocean,
01:03
even if there are thunderstorms outside the house.
01:06
And we can't see any new weather disturbance or typhoon
01:11
until the weekend around our Philippine area of responsibility.
01:16
Based on the latest forecast,
01:18
it is expected that the typhoon Hulian will move eastward slowly.
01:23
It is possible that our area of responsibility will enter this morning,
01:26
and by the afternoon or afternoon,
01:29
it will landfall in southwestern Taiwan.
01:32
It will continue to weaken,
01:33
and it is possible that it will only be a severe tropical storm
01:36
because the sea around Taiwan is already cold,
01:39
and it will weaken when it landfalls,
01:42
because southern Taiwan is a mountainous area.
01:45
Estimated location, when it lands early tomorrow,
01:48
290 kilometers northwest of Itbayat, Batanes.
01:54
Then, when it lands tomorrow afternoon,
01:57
it is possible that it will weaken and recurve partly
02:00
into a low-pressure area
02:02
because the high-pressure area will continue to grow
02:05
here in mainland China, extending to Japan,
02:09
so the so-called typhoon Hulian will not be able to rise.
02:12
Estimated location, by tomorrow afternoon,
02:14
is around 335 kilometers north-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes.
02:19
Based on the latest forecast,
02:21
the outer rain bands are still separating the extreme northern zone
02:26
from the strong winds.
02:28
That is why we still have Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1
02:32
in the province of Batanes,
02:33
and we have already removed Signal No. 1 here in Babuyan Islands.
02:39
For the weather forecast for this morning,
02:42
expect cloudy skies,
02:44
accompanied by light to moderate, with at times heavy rains,
02:47
especially in the afternoon and evening
02:49
here in the extreme northern zone, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands,
02:53
as well as portions of Ilocos Norte, Apayau, and mainland Cagayan.
02:58
There is also a part of the northern zone plus central zone.
03:01
The weather is also a bit gloomy.
03:03
Sometimes, the sun shines,
03:05
but most of the time, there are heavy rains,
03:07
especially in the afternoon and evening.
03:10
So make sure that you still have an umbrella.
03:13
Here in Metro Manila,
03:14
here in Calabarzon, Bicol Region, and Mimaropa,
03:17
expect partly cloudy skies,
03:21
and there are still areas where there will be heavy rains,
03:25
especially in the afternoon and evening.
03:29
For Metro Manila, it will still be hot and humid
03:32
with temperatures reaching 34°C in the afternoon,
03:35
as well as in nearby areas in Calabarzon and Bicol Region,
03:39
while in Baguio City, it will be up to 23°C,
03:42
and in some areas in the north,
03:44
it will not be hot at all.
03:47
For our countrymen in Palawan and Visayas,
03:50
for this morning,
03:51
expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies,
03:53
and there are areas in the eastern portions
03:55
where there will be heavy rains as early as this morning.
03:59
For the afternoon and evening,
04:01
expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies,
04:03
accompanied by more frequent rains,
04:06
as well as in the southern and eastern portions of Visayas,
04:10
due to the easterlies, or the wind from the east.
04:13
Our temperature in most of Palawan and Visayas
04:16
will still be hot up to 33°C in the afternoon.
04:21
Then for our countrymen in Mindanao,
04:23
as we mentioned earlier,
04:25
there are areas where as early as this morning
04:27
and until the afternoon,
04:28
there will be heavy rains.
04:30
So make sure that we have an umbrella
04:32
and always follow the thunderstorm advisories
04:35
and even rainfall advisories of Pag-Asa.
04:38
There is a high chance of rain within the next 24 hours
04:41
in Davao Region, Caraga Region, and Sok Sabje,
04:44
which is accompanied by heavy rains.
04:47
While here in the southern part of Mindanao,
04:50
there will still be heavy rains,
04:51
or there will still be heavy rains,
04:53
expected from morning to night.
04:57
Our temperature in Zamboanga will be hot up to 32°C
05:00
while in Davao and Cagende Oro,
05:02
it will be hot up to 33°C.
05:05
For now, let's just focus on Batanes.
05:08
We have a gale warning.
05:09
Typhoon Julian will also have an effect.
05:11
For today, the waves will be up to 4.5 meters high.
05:15
Then in the remaining parts of Northern Luzon
05:17
and Baybayin of Central Luzon,
05:19
the waves will still be 2 to 4 meters high.
05:23
It is still dangerous for small sea vessels.
05:26
Here in Southern Luzon, down to Mindanao,
05:28
it is still expected that the waves will be up to 0.5 meters high.
05:35
But if there are thunderstorms,
05:37
especially in the part of Mindanao,
05:38
it is possible that the waves will be up to 2 meters high.
05:42
And for our three-day weather forecast,
05:45
for the next three days,
05:46
there is a high chance of rain,
05:49
especially from tomorrow until the weekend
05:51
in a large part of the Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao
05:54
due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone or ITCZ.
05:58
This is the line where the wind comes from
06:01
from the northern and southern hemispheres.
06:03
And ITCZ is more common when we are in the transition period
06:07
or when the wind changes from the southwestern east
06:10
proceeding to the northeastern east or from the north.
06:14
The remaining part of Luzon,
06:16
particularly in the extreme northern Luzon,
06:18
it is still expected that tomorrow will be a cloudy day
06:21
with scattered rain and thunderstorms
06:24
while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon
06:26
are expected to be partly cloudy
06:28
until the sky is cloudy for the next three days
06:31
and there is a high chance of rain and thunderstorms.
06:35
Our sunrise is at 5.46 a.m.
06:38
Sunset, 5.44 p.m.
06:40
That is the latest from the Weather Forecasting Center of Pagasa.
06:44
I am Benison Estareja.
06:46
Take care!
