This year has been a treat for sky gazers, with a total solar eclipse making its way
00:08
over the US just this past spring.
00:10
Now experts say we're about to have our last eclipse of the year, the annular solar
00:15
eclipse.
00:16
The cosmic show will happen on October 2nd, but there's a really good chance you're
00:19
not going to see it.
00:21
Annular solar eclipses occur as you would expect, with the moon traveling in front of
00:24
the sun.
00:25
However, because of the earth, sun, and moon triangulation, the moon is too small to completely
00:29
obfuscate the solar light.
00:31
That's why it's often referred to as a ring of fire eclipse, as a clear outline of the
00:35
sun is visible.
00:37
So where can you see it from?
00:38
Well, this one is occurring over the South Pacific, only moving over land in the areas
00:42
of Easter Island, Chile, and Argentina.
00:45
That will occur between 12.50pm and 4.39pm Eastern Time.
00:49
But don't worry if you're not one of the few who will get to see this one.
00:52
NASA says the next partial solar eclipse will occur soonish, in March 2025.
