Points shared at St. James’, wins for Merseyside clubs: Premier League Matchweek 6 Roundup

00:00At St James' Park, Newcastle United were looking to bounce back from a 3-1 away defeat at Fulham,

00:07with a performance against the reigning champions, Manchester City.

00:14So we are at St James' Park, where it's finished. Newcastle United 1, Manchester City 1. Very

00:21good performance from Newcastle today, I thought they fully deserved that point. Physically,

00:27they took a lot out of Newcastle, as you'd expect against the Premier League champions,

00:30it always requires a lot of physical work to get something from Pep Guardiola's side

00:34and I thought every man on that pitch today gave that. 1 from 11, so physically, excellent

00:41and they had a star boy in Anthony Gordon who ultimately got them a point in the end.

00:47For Manchester City, who were without Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne, it was not the usual

00:52flowing performance that their supporters have become accustomed to in recent times.

00:59This was a game that City, so much of the talk and the build-up to it was about how

01:02they would cope without Rodri and of course Kevin De Bruyne who was also injured and as

01:06a first test, I think City fans would perhaps be a little bit disappointed. I thought they

01:10lacked rhythm, their usual rhythm anyway, and a little bit of creativity at times in

01:14the draw at St James' Park. On Merseyside, the wait for a win was still

01:18ongoing at 3pm on Saturday for Everton. They faced a Crystal Palace side who themselves

01:24were also winless prior to the fixture. Something had to give.

01:31Full-time here at Goodson Park, Everton finally off the mark in the Premier League, a 2-1

01:36victory over Crystal Palace, much needed for Sean Dyche's side and it caps off a fine

01:42week on and off the pitch. Obviously the freaking group agree on a takeover deal, there was

01:48a feel of a factor heading here into the game. That's to spice Everton winless in their

01:53opening five Premier League games. But they were playing a Crystal Palace side who were

01:56also winless and remained winless after six games because it was Everton who proved triumphant.

02:04Winless Wolves' prospect of securing their first three points depended on whether they

02:08could stand up to the test of early Premier League pace setters Liverpool at Molineux.

02:16Another unfortunate result, another defeat for Gary O'Neill's men who are slumped at

02:19the bottom of Premier League standings, remaining so with just one point from their opening

02:23six fixtures. Also the goal difference taking a little bit of a battering in some earlier

02:27fixtures but tonight defensively a lot better, a lot more sound. But unfortunately Liverpool

02:33were just ruthless and they are, they are of course going to be ruthless because they

02:36are fighting potentially this season for the Premier League title under Arne Schlott. Two

02:41ruthless moments, one powerful header from Ibrahima Kanate before the break and a penalty

02:46converted by Mohamed Salah were enough. Ryan Ait Nouri did get an equaliser in the start

02:51of the second half but it was very quickly cancelled out and overridden by Mohamed Salah's

02:56penalty.
