00:0010 years on, the Star Golden Hearts Award has continued to honour Malaysians for their
00:06good deeds and contributions to society.
00:11The final judging session for the 2024 edition was held recently, and the judges reflected
00:16on the lasting impact this year's winners have made to the country.
00:19I was indeed very happy to have been given the privilege to serve as the chief judge
00:25of the panel of judges for this very, what I would describe as a very meaningful award.
00:31I was very supportive of the Star Golden Hearts Award right from the beginning.
00:37For all those who have been given the awards in their respective fields of the endeavour,
00:42I hope that they will be able to live up to our expectations, to live up to the hopes
00:48of the community.
00:51What is important is that they will be able to serve with more inspiration, they will
00:55be able to serve with integrity.
00:57Last year, as a first-time jury, I think it's quite different in terms of application.
01:04We see a lot of nominations this year more concerned about delivering impact, more concerned
01:11about their community, what they want to achieve.
01:14This year, nominees are more thoroughly screened, and then we can see a real impact in their
01:23achievement.
01:24Some, even though they are not being recognised yet by other entities, I think that's what
01:30the Star Golden Hearts Award meant, to celebrate the unsung heroes.
01:36One or two of them have been recognised by other organisations, but for us here, they
01:42are really unsung heroes, nominated by the public.
01:46They definitely deserve the recognition.
01:48I don't believe in, there's this number one, this number two, number three.
01:53All of them deserve it.
01:55First-time judges expressed their admiration for the diversity of the work done by the nominees.
01:59I'm very impressed to see that a lot of nominees are doing a lot of work in terms of diversity,
02:08reaching out to communities that are underprivileged, reaching out to communities that are needing
02:14a lot of attention, especially the orang-aslis, working mothers, single mothers, and so on.
02:21Of course, I learned a lot during the judging, and then I gained a lot from the experienced
02:28judges.
02:29I mean, this is a great opportunity for me, for myself.
02:31All the nominees, they've done a very good impact, and all the nominees, they've done a good job.
02:40Star Media Group Chief Content Officer Datin Paduka Esther Ng said it was increasingly
02:45difficult to be a judge, since each nominee had its own strengths.
02:48Year in, year out, we have more people coming in, and I think it's more difficult to be
02:56a judge because every one of them are so good.
02:59The only thing that is different about them are the focus on what they fight for.
03:04So as a judge, I have to keep asking myself, what is their focus, and how are they different
03:10from the rest?
03:11And I'm actually very impressed with every one of them.
03:14Over 500 nominations were received for this year's edition from all over Malaysia.
03:19A total of 10 winners will be presented with a trophy and a cash award of RM15,000 each,
03:25and the winners will be announced in November.
03:29Star Media Group Chief Content Officer Datin Paduka Esther Ng said it was increasingly
03:31difficult to be a judge, since each nominee had its own strengths, and I think it's more
03:33difficult to be a judge because every one of them are so good.
