00:06But as he faces mounting calls to step down, Eric Adams continues to claim his innocence

00:12and says he will carry on doing his job.

00:23Adams' Upper Manhattan residence was raided by the FBI Thursday morning as part of a sprawling

00:28corruption investigation into the New York City mayor.

00:32He's accused of having received illegal campaign contributions, as well as free flights, lavish

00:37meals and hotel stays from several Turkish officials and businessmen.

00:42In exchange, Adams allegedly took action that benefited the Turkish government, including

00:47pressuring city officials to open a new consulate building despite safety concerns.

00:53The New York City mayor is also accused of disguising unlawful donations by funneling

00:57them through U.S. citizens, helping him qualify for an additional $10 million in public financing.

01:04On Thursday, he was charged with conspiracy, fraud and bribery in a five-count indictment

01:09that could see him jailed for decades.

01:11As the indictment alleges, Mayor Adams engaged in a long-running conspiracy in which he solicited

01:17and knowingly accepted illegal campaign contributions from foreign donors and corporations.

01:23Adams knew that these wealthy individuals could not legally donate in a U.S. election.

01:28The investigation sparked a string of high-profile resignations in recent weeks, including New

01:33York City's police commissioner, health commissioner and school's chancellor.
