00:07Got to see each other yesterday.
00:10And you shared a preview of your plan to win this war,
00:13and that's exactly what we're going to discuss today,
00:16now that Ukraine — how Ukraine is going to prevail
00:20in this conflict. And I see two key pieces.
00:24First, right now, we have to strengthen
00:26Ukraine's position on the battlefield.
00:28And that's why, today, I'm proud to announce
00:31a new $2.4 billion package of security assistance.
00:36I've also directed the Pentagon to allocate —
00:38to allocate all the remaining security assistance funding
00:42that has been appropriated from Ukraine,
00:44period, by the end of this — my term, which is January 20th.
00:49And this will strengthen Ukraine's position
00:51in future negotiations.
00:52Second, we look ahead to help Ukraine succeed in the long term.
00:58As you know better than anyone, we —
01:00as we said at the Washington Summit,
01:02we have to support Ukraine in its path to membership
01:04to both the EU and the NATO,
01:06and continue to make reforms to counter corruption
01:10and strengthen democracy,
01:11which you're working mightily on right now.
01:14We have to ensure Ukraine has sufficient capabilities —
01:17and I mean sufficient capabilities —
01:19to defend against future Russian aggression.
01:22So I'm proud of the steps we've taken in our partnership
01:25on these fronts.
01:26Earlier this summer, we launched the Ukraine Compact
01:30with more than 20 nations
01:32committed to Ukraine's long-term security.
01:34And yesterday, with over 30 nations committed to it,
