00:00We're not far from where that night took place and you've never told the details about it.
00:06Welcome to WatchMojo and today we're counting down our picks for the most shocking Diddy
00:10scandals that have been largely forgotten in the wake of the recent accusations.
00:14Okay, so that whole situation happened, Puffy gets arrested.
00:18Yeah.
00:20Number 10. Losing the Diddy name.
00:23It seems like so long ago when the biggest controversy was his name,
00:33or lack thereof, we suppose.
00:35Back in November of 2005, a London-based music producer named Richard Dearlove sued Diddy,
00:40as he had been going by the same stage name since 1992.
00:44Even if you're not good at math, you can see that this is well before Puff Daddy changed
00:49his name to P. Diddy in 2001. He even dropped the P in 2005,
00:54becoming just Diddy and earning the ire of Diddy.
01:01Yeah, it's a little confusing and that's why Dearlove sued Combs, and won.
01:06He was paid over £100,000 in fees and damages,
01:09and Combs was banned from using the name Diddy in the UK.
01:15Number 9. Allegedly threatening Kirk Burroughs.
01:18What went wrong between you and Puffy? Because if I'm not mistaken,
01:22he made you give up your ownership in Bad Boy, right?
01:24And they had you in the room and they had bats and they made you give over your percentage.
01:28Back in 2003, Combs founded Bad Boy Records and worked with a business partner named Kirk Burroughs,
01:34who served as the company's president and general manager until 1997.
01:38Burroughs owned a 25% stake in the record label,
01:41but this partnership ended after Combs allegedly threatened him with a baseball bat.
01:46Burroughs sued Combs for $25 million, claiming that he was coerced to quit
02:00the company through threats of physical violence. Diddy, of course, denied the claims.
02:05We never got the full truth, however,
02:07as the statute of limitations had expired and the case was dismissed.
02:15Number 8. Assaulting Gerard Richnitzer.
02:26In August of 2007, Diddy became the target of another lawsuit,
02:30this one coming from 27-year-old Gerard Richnitzer. Diddy was allegedly talking
02:35to Richnitzer's girlfriend outside a Hollywood nightclub, prompting Richnitzer to intervene.
02:40When he did so, Diddy flew into a rage,
02:43shouting obscenities at Richnitzer before punching him in the face and sending him
02:47into a nearby car. Diddy's team denied the claims, stating that Richnitzer was never attacked,
02:56and that he just wanted to cash in on Diddy's fame. However,
03:00the rapper settled with Richnitzer out of court for an undisclosed sum.
03:07Number 7. Assaulting a Football Coach.
03:09Diddy was arrested yesterday for attacking the strength and conditioning coach
03:14Sal Elosi was the strength and conditioning coach for the UCLA Bruins,
03:18a college football team based out of the University of California, Los Angeles.
03:22Back in 2015, Elosi had a disagreement with Diddy's son, Justin Combs, who at the time
03:27was playing for the Bruins. According to the official report, Elosi kicked Combs out of
03:32practice owing to a lack of effort. Diddy then confronted Elosi in his office, physically
03:39attacking the coach and swinging a kettlebell at one of the interns. Police saw the security
03:43video and arrested Combs, charging him with battery and three counts of assault with a deadly
03:48weapon. The charges constitute a felony, but they were later dropped owing to a lack of evidence.
03:53He attacked the guy, allegedly, with a kettleball.
03:57Number 6. A Cheating Scandal.
03:59What's in the book?
04:00So, in the book, they, uh…
04:02Read some excerpt.
04:03For many celebrities, a cheating scandal is the absolute worst of it. But with Diddy,
04:08it's something we have long forgotten. Combs was with model Kimberly Porter for many years,
04:13and the couple had four children, including Porter's from an old relationship.
04:22In 2006, she gave birth to twin daughters, Delilah Starr and Jessie James. Unfortunately,
04:28it was also around this time that she learned a horrifying truth.
04:31Combs had been unfaithful and had fathered a daughter with a woman from Atlanta named
04:36Sarah Chapman. Chapman gave birth to their daughter while Porter was still pregnant with
04:40her twins. Porter learned the truth from a friend and later left Diddy owing in part to his infidelity.
04:46This is allegedly a book that was co-written by Kim Porter, the ex of Diddy who passed away.
04:53Number 5. The Assault of Cindy Rueda.
04:56Sean P. Diddy Combs is allegedly being sued by his former chef, Cindy Rueda,
05:01who is claiming sexual harassment, hostile work environment, and wrongful termination.
05:06There have been so many abuse allegations as of late that some people may have forgotten
05:10about Diddy's former chef, Cindy Rueda. She first made the news in 2017 when she
05:15sued Diddy for sexual harassment and unpaid work.
05:18And that same year, another situation happened with Diddy's personal chef.
05:25According to legal documents, Rueda complained about the harassment to the estate director,
05:29but was subsequently threatened, framed for theft, and fired as a result.
05:33Diddy eventually settled with his former chef in February of 2019 for an undisclosed sum.
05:39It would be one of the first of many accusations, a snowball effect for the ages.
05:44She worked overtime on multiple occasions and was never compensated with the proper
05:48coins. And she was also set up for wrongful termination.
05:52Number 4. Allegedly Hiding a Shooting.
05:59The feds hate me.
06:00In February of 2024, Diddy was sued by producer Rodney Jones, claiming sexual assault.
06:07But that's not why we're here. What some may have forgotten, or not even known about,
06:11is that Jones filed an additional complaint about an alleged shooting.
06:15According to the lawsuit, Jones was working inside L.A.'s chalice recording studio when
06:19he heard gunshots.
06:20I need new tissue, whose clock should I clean next?
06:22Pops still, he's in police handcuffs. Guilty, will he step up?
06:26He saw Diddy and his son Justin leave a bathroom,
06:29and inside the bathroom was a man bleeding from a gunshot wound.
06:33Jones' story clashes with that of the LAPD, which claims that a shooting never occurred
06:38at the studio and that Diddy is not a suspect. However, Jones has publicly declared this a,
06:43quote, massive cover-up.
06:45Me, being a former investigator, I think little Rod was trying to save face on certain things.
06:52Number 3. Attacking Steve Stout.
06:57It was 1999, and Nas just released a music video for his song Hate Me Now.
07:04Puff Daddy was featured on the track, and the video showed the rapper being crucified.
07:09However, Diddy demanded his scenes be cut from the public release. They did so,
07:14but the wrong edit was accidentally sent to MTV,
07:17and the channel broadcast the version with Puff Daddy's crucifixion.
07:21Soon after, Combs burst into the office of Nas' manager, Steve Stout,
07:31and physically assaulted him with the help of some bodyguards. He was subsequently sued by Stout.
07:36Combs pled guilty to harassment and was ordered to attend anger management.
07:40He also settled with Stout out of court to the tune of $500,000.
07:44Do you know how much Steve got paid off?
07:47He got paid off what?
07:49Millions?
07:51You could say that.
07:52Yeah? You could say that?
07:53Yeah.
07:53Number 2. Violating labor laws.
08:00Not content with music, Diddy expanded his horizons and started a clothing label in 1998
08:05called Sean John. However, it wasn't long before the controversies began. In 2003,
08:11the company was accused of violating labor laws and basic human rights at a factory in Honduras.
08:16The reports claimed that employees were subjected to mandatory pregnancy tests,
08:21worked overtime without pay, subjected to daily body searches,
08:24and were forced to obtain passes for the locked bathrooms.
08:28The new collection is great. You can call me Sean, Harold.
08:31Okay, Sean.
08:32Matter of fact, you can call me Sean John.
08:34Their wages were also not sufficient, with workers being paid sweatshop wages.
08:39Former employee Lita Eli Gonzalez said,
08:42We live inhumane lives. A succinct statement for a horrible reality.
08:47Guys, he's on us. Execute Diddy Dash.

09:06Number 1. The shooting trial.
09:08To me, more of a blip on my journey to where I was going.
09:15Diddy's list of controversies has grown so enormous that most people have forgotten about
09:19his highly public shooting trial. It stems from an incident that occurred on December 27,
09:241999, when Combs was accused of shooting a gun inside a Manhattan nightclub.
09:29And this comes about from the victim that was shot
09:33recently going public saying that Puffy is the person that shot me.
09:37Another rapper named Shine, who was attending the club with Combs,
09:40was also accused of shooting two bystanders. Combs faced up to 15 years in prison,
09:45but he was ultimately acquitted thanks to the help of superstar lawyers Benjamin Brafman
09:50and Johnny Cochran, the same man who helped O.J. Simpson get acquitted. Shine was not so lucky,
09:56as he was found guilty of first-degree assault and given 10 years in prison.
10:00And you were on your way, even you were quoted as saying,
10:04you thought you were going to be a billionaire rap star, and you ended up behind bars.
10:10Can you think of any more scandals? Let us know in the comments below.
10:14You know, Puffy, you can't be doing that.
