00:00More than 5,000 families in the mountain barangays of Cebu City will now have water supply.

00:06This is through the expansion project of pipes in their area.

00:10This is Jesse Atienza of PTB Cebu for the details.

00:18The LGU of Cebu City and Metro Cebu Water District officials

00:23led the ground-breaking ceremony

00:26for the expansion of pipes in the mountain barangays of Cebu City.

00:33Up to eight mountain barangays will benefit from the expansion project.

00:37But the acting mayor couldn't avoid embarrassment

00:41due to the long delay of the project.

00:44It was so much delayed.

00:51One year had passed.

00:54There was no action on the excavation permit.

00:57The excavation permit is important

01:00because it will now allow them to dig underground

01:04and put their pipes.

01:08They will lay them down in their respective houses.

01:12One year had passed.

01:14At least, if this is approved by the acting mayor,

01:17there will be no ground-breaking.

01:19The MCWD hopes that the residents will be given

01:22clean and safe water supply.

01:25The residents of barangay Agsungot, like Rhea,

01:28will benefit from the project.

01:30She has been living here for almost 20 years.

01:33She is struggling to get water from the river or from the balloon.

01:37We are worried because we don't have access to water.

01:43We have no access to water.

01:47We don't have access to electricity.

01:50We don't have electricity.

01:55According to the MCWD,

01:57their target is to finish the expansion project

01:59within more than half a year.
