00:00Philippine Health Insurance of PhilHealth will now pay the expenses for prescription eyeglasses, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs.
00:09This is what Dr. Israel Francis-Fargas, Senior Vice President for Health Finance Policy Sector of PhilHealth, said in an interview with the new Philippine program of PTV4.
00:21Dr. Francis-Fargas said that PhilHealth will be the mechanism of the so-called new benefit.
00:27But he insisted that it will be completed and will be implemented before January 2025.
00:32And all Filipinos will be included as PhilHealth members.
00:36This is more important for senior citizens and persons with disabilities so that their daily activities will be easier.
00:45The so-called benefit is also part of the Universal Health Care Law and requested by PhilHealth's members.
00:54In response to the requests and of course the instruction of the Congress, we are studying if we can cover the so-called prescription glasses,
01:11assistive devices like wheelchair, crutches, cane, or walkers.
01:18This is currently under our study, including the financial impact analysis.
01:25Hopefully, this will be released before the end of the year and will be effective at the beginning of 2025.
