00:13The National Security and Defense Council announces the restrictions after its intelligence
00:17agency presented a council with evidence of Russia's ability to access Telegram messages,

00:26After the decision was announced, Telegram issued a statement saying it had never disclosed
00:30anyone's data or the contents of any message.
00:33Telegram is heavily used in both Ukraine and Russia and has become a critical source of
00:37information since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
00:42Telemetryo data says about 33,000 Telegram channels are active in Ukraine.
00:48Ukrainian media estimates 75% of Ukrainians use the app for communication, while 72% see
00:53it as a key source of information.
